Wisdom is Supreme
1. Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

3. For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
3. J`étais un fils pour mon père, Un fils tendre et unique auprès de ma mère.

4. He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.

5. Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

5. "Mahazoa fahendrena, mahazoa fahalalana; fa aza hadinoina na hihemorana ny teny aloaky ny vavako."
6. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
6. "Ne l`abandonne pas, et elle te gardera; Aime-la, et elle te protégera."
6. "Aza mahafoy azy, fa hiaro anao izy; tiavo izy, dia hitandrina anao."
7. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
7. Voici le commencement de la sagesse: Acquiers la sagesse, Et avec tout ce que tu possèdes acquiers l`intelligence.
7. "Ny fahendrena no zavatra voalohany indrindra; noho izany, mahazoa fahendrena; ary amin' ny fanananao rehetra mahazoa fahalalana."
8. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
8. "Exalte-la, et elle t`élèvera; Elle fera ta gloire, si tu l`embrasses;"
8. "Asandrato izy, dia hanandratra anao kosa; hitondra anao ho amin' ny voninahitra izy raha ifikiranao tokoa."
9. She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
9. Elle mettra sur ta tête une couronne de grâce, Elle t`ornera d`un magnifique diadème.
9. "Dia hasiany fehilohan' ny fahasoavana ny lohanao; satroboninahitry ny voninahitra no homeny anao."
10. Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
10. "Écoute, mon fils, et reçois mes paroles; Et les années de ta vie se multiplieront."
10. "Henoy, anaka, ka raiso ny teniko; dia hihamaro ny taona hiainanao."
11. I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
11. Je te montre la voie de la sagesse, Je te conduis dans les sentiers de la droiture.
11. "Tamin' ny lalam-pahendrena no nampianarako anao; nitarika anao tamin' ny lalana marina aho."
12. When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
12. "Si tu marches, ton pas ne sera point gêné; Et si tu cours, tu ne chancelleras point."
12. "Raha mandeha ianao, dia tsy ho ety ny lalanao; ary raha mihazakazaka ianao dia tsy ho tafintohina."
13. Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
13. "Retiens l`instruction, ne t`en dessaisis pas; Garde-la, car elle est ta vie."
13. "Tano mafy ny fananarana, ka aza avela hiala; hazòny izy, fa ainao."
14. Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
14. N`entre pas dans le sentier des méchants, Et ne marche pas dans la voie des hommes mauvais.
14. Aza miditra amin' ny lalan' ny ratsy fanahy, ary aza mandeha amin' ny lalan' ny olon-dratsy.
15. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
15. "Évite-la, n`y passe point; Détourne-t`en, et passe outre."
15. "Manalavira azy; aza mandalo eo akory; mivilia azy ka zory ny làlana."
16. For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
16. "Car ils ne dormiraient pas s`ils n`avaient fait le mal, Le sommeil leur serait ravi s`ils n`avaient fait tomber personne;"
16. "Fa tsy matory ireny, raha tsy efa nanao ratsy; ary tsy mahita torimaso izy, raha tsy efa nanafintohina ny sasany."
17. For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
17. Car c`est le pain de la méchanceté qu`ils mangent, C`est le vin de la violence qu`ils boivent.
17. Fa mihinana ny mofon' ny faharatsiana izy sy misotro ny divain' ny fahalozana.
18. But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
18. Le sentier des justes est comme la lumière resplendissante, Dont l`éclat va croissant jusqu`au milieu du jour.

19. The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
19. "La voie des méchants est comme les ténèbres; Ils n`aperçoivent pas ce qui les fera tomber."

20. My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
20. Mon fils, sois attentif à mes paroles, Prête l`oreille à mes discours.

21. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
21. "Qu`ils ne s`éloignent pas de tes yeux; Garde-les dans le fond de ton coeur;"
21. Aza avela hiala amin' ny masonao izy fa tehirizo ao anatin' ny fonao.
22. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
22. Car c`est la vie pour ceux qui les trouvent, C`est la santé pour tout leur corps.

23. Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
23. Garde ton coeur plus que toute autre chose, Car de lui viennent les sources de la vie.
23. Tandremo ny fonao amin' izay fitandremana tsara rehetra, fa avy ao no ivoahan' ny aina.
24. Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
24. Écarte de ta bouche la fausseté, Éloigne de tes lèvres les détours.
24. Esory aminao ny vava ratsy, ary ampanalaviro anao ny molotra mamitaka.
25. Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
25. Que tes yeux regardent en face, Et que tes paupières se dirigent devant toi.
25. Aoka ny masonao hijery mahitsy, ary ny hodimasonao hibanjina ny eo anoloanao.
26. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
26. "Considère le chemin par où tu passes, Et que toutes tes voies soient bien réglées;"
26. Saino tsara izay alehan' ny tongotrao, ary aoka ho voalamina ny lalanao rehetra.
27. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
27. N`incline ni à droite ni à gauche, Et détourne ton pied du mal.
27. "Aza mivily, na ho amin' ny ankavanana, na ho amin' ny ankavia; esory amin' ny ratsy ny tongotrao."
