The Visit of the Magi
1. Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
1. Jésus étant né à Bethléhem en Judée, au temps du roi Hérode, voici des mages d`Orient arrivèrent à Jérusalem,

2. Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
2. et dirent: Où est le roi des Juifs qui vient de naître? car nous avons vu son étoile en Orient, et nous sommes venus pour l`adorer.
2. Ka nanao hoe: Aiza Ilay teraka ho Mpanjakan’ny Jiosy? fa nahita ny kintany teny atsinanana izahay ka tonga mba hiankohoka eo anatrehany.
3. When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
3. Le roi Hérode, ayant appris cela, fut troublé, et tout Jérusalem avec lui.
3. Ary nony nandre izany Heroda mpanjaka, dia nangorohoro izy mbamin’i Jerosalema rehetra.
4. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.
4. Il assembla tous les principaux sacrificateurs et les scribes du peuple, et il s`informa auprès d`eux où devait naître le Christ.

5. And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,
5. "Ils lui dirent: A Bethléhem en Judée; car voici ce qui a été écrit par le prophète:"
5. "Ary hoy ireo taminy: Ao Betlehema an’i Jodia; fa izao no voasoratry ny mpaminany:"
6. And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
6. Et toi, Bethléhem, terre de Juda, Tu n`es certes pas la moindre entre les principales villes de Juda, Car de toi sortira un chef Qui paîtra Israël, mon peuple.
6. "“Ary ianao, ry Betlehema, tanin’ny Joda, tsy dia kely indrindra ao amin’ny andrianan’ny Joda ianao tsy akory; fa avy ao aminao no hivoahan’Izay anankiray ho Mpanapaka, ka Izy no ho Mpiandry ny Isiraely oloko”."
7. Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
7. Alors Hérode fit appeler en secret les mages, et s`enquit soigneusement auprès d`eux depuis combien de temps l`étoile brillait.
7. Dia nampaka ny olon-kendry mangingina Heroda ka namototra fatratra taminy izay fotoana nisehoan' ilay kintana.
8. And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
8. "Puis il les envoya à Bethléhem, en disant: Allez, et prenez des informations exactes sur le petit enfant; quand vous l`aurez trouvé, faites-le-moi savoir, afin que j`aille aussi moi-même l`adorer."
8. "Dia naniraka azy hankany Betlehema izy ka nanao hoe: Andeha, fotory tsara ny amin' ilay Zaza kely; koa rehefa hitanareo izy, dia mitondrà teny amiko indray, mba hankanesako any koa hiankohoka eo anatrehany."
9. When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
9. Après avoir entendu le roi, ils partirent. Et voici, l`étoile qu`ils avaient vue en Orient marchait devant eux jusqu`à ce qu`étant arrivée au-dessus du lieu où était le petit enfant, elle s`arrêta.
9. "Ary rehefa nandre ny mpanjaka izy ireo, dia lasa; ary, indro, ilay kintana hitany teny atsinanana nialoha azy mandra-pijanony teo ambonin' izay nitoeran’ny Zaza kely."
10. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
10. Quand ils aperçurent l`étoile, ils furent saisis d`une très grande joie.
10. Ary nony nahita ny kintana izy, dia nifaly indrindra.
11. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.
11. "Ils entrèrent dans la maison, virent le petit enfant avec Marie, sa mère, se prosternèrent et l`adorèrent; ils ouvrirent ensuite leurs trésors, et lui offrirent en présent de l`or, de l`encens et de la myrrhe."
11. "Ary rehefa tafiditra tao an-trano izy, dia nahita ny Zaza kely sy Maria reniny ka niankohoka teo anatrehany; ary nony efa nosokafany ireo tahiriny, dia nanolotra fanomezana ho Azy izy ireo, dia volamena sy zava-manitra ary miora."
12. And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
12. Puis, divinement avertis en songe de ne pas retourner vers Hérode, ils regagnèrent leur pays par un autre chemin.
12. Ary rehefa notoroan’Andriamanitra hevitra tamin’ny nofy izy tsy hiverina any amin’i Heroda, dia lalana hafa no nalehany nody ho any amin’ny fonenany.
The Escape to Egypt
13. And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
13. "Lorsqu`ils furent partis, voici, un ange du Seigneur apparut en songe à Joseph, et dit: Lève-toi, prends le petit enfant et sa mère, fuis en Égypte, et restes-y jusqu`à ce que je te parle; car Hérode cherchera le petit enfant pour le faire périr."
13. "Ary nony efa lasa nandeha ireo, indro, ilay anjelin’ny Tompo niseho tamin’i Josefa tamin’ny nofy ka nanao hoe: Mifohaza ianao, ka ento ny Zaza kely sy ny reniny, dia mandosira any Egypta, ary mitoera any mandra-pilazako aminao; fa Heroda efa hitady ny Zaza kely hovonoiny."
14. When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:
14. Joseph se leva, prit de nuit le petit enfant et sa mère, et se retira en Égypte.
14. "Dia nifoha izy ka nitondra ny Zaza kely sy ny reniny raha mbola alina, dia lasa nankany Egypta;"
15. And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.
15. Il y resta jusqu`à la mort d`Hérode, afin que s`accomplît ce que le Seigneur avait annoncé par le prophète: J`ai appelé mon fils hors d`Égypte.
15. Ary nitoetra tany izy ambara-pahafatin’i Heroda, mba hahatanteraka izay nampilazain’i Jehovah ny mpaminany hoe: “Nantsoiko hiala tany Egypta ny zanako”.
16. Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.
16. Alors Hérode, voyant qu`il avait été joué par les mages, se mit dans une grande colère, et il envoya tuer tous les enfants de deux ans et au-dessous qui étaient à Bethléhem et dans tout son territoire, selon la date dont il s`était soigneusement enquis auprès des mages.
16. Ary nony efa fantatr’i Heroda fa voafitaky ny olon-kendry izy, dia tezitra indrindra izy ka naniraka namono ny zazalahy rehetra hatramin’ny roa taona no ho midina, izay tao Betlehema sy tamin’ny manodidina rehetra, araka ny andro izay nofotorany fatratra tamin’ny olon-kendry.
17. Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying,
17. Alors s`accomplit ce qui avait été annoncé par Jérémie, le prophète:
17. Dia tanteraka izay nampilazaina an’i Jeremia mpaminany hoe:
18. In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
18. On a entendu des cris à Rama, Des pleurs et de grandes lamentations: Rachel pleure ses enfants, Et n`a pas voulu être consolée, Parce qu`ils ne sont plus.
18. "“Nisy feo re tao Rama, dia fidradradradrana sy fitomaniana ary fisaonana fatratra; Rahely nitomany ny zanany, ary tsy azo nampiononina izy, satria lany ritra ireny”."
The Return to Nazareth
19. But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
19. Quand Hérode fut mort, voici, un ange du Seigneur apparut en songe à Joseph, en Égypte,
19. Fa rehefa maty Heroda, indro, nisy anjelin’ny Tompo niseho tamin’i Josefa tany Egypta tamin’ny nofy ka nanao hoe:
20. Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child's life.
20. et dit: Lève-toi, prends le petit enfant et sa mère, et va dans le pays d`Israël, car ceux qui en voulaient à la vie du petit enfant sont morts.
20. "Mifohaza ianao, ka ento ny Zaza kely sy ny reniny, dia mankanesa any amin’ny tanin’ny Isiraely; fa efa maty ireo izay nitady ny ain’ny Zaza kely."
21. And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.
21. Joseph se leva, prit le petit enfant et sa mère, et alla dans le pays d`Israël.
21. Dia nifoha izy ka nitondra ny Zaza kely sy ny reniny, dia tonga tany amin’ny tanin’ny Isiraely.
22. But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:
22. "Mais, ayant appris qu`Archélaüs régnait sur la Judée à la place d`Hérode, son père, il craignit de s`y rendre; et, divinement averti en songe, il se retira dans le territoire de la Galilée,"
22. "Fa rehefa reny fa Arkelaosy no nanjaka tany Jodia nandimby an’i Heroda rainy, dia natahotra hankany izy; ary rehefa notoroan’Andriamanitra hevitra tamin’ny nofy izy, dia lasa nankany amin’ny tany Galilia."
23. And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.
23. et vint demeurer dans une ville appelée Nazareth, afin que s`accomplît ce qui avait été annoncé par les prophètes: Il sera appelé Nazaréen.
23. Ary tonga tany izy, ka nonina tao amin’ny tanàna atao hoe Nazareta, mba hahatanteraka izay nampilazaina ny mpaminany hoe: “Hatao hoe Nazarena Izy”.
