1. Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brethren, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, are come out of the land of Canaan; and, behold, they are in the land of Goshen.

2. And he took some of his brethren, even five men, and presented them unto Pharaoh.

3. And Pharaoh said unto his brethren, What is your occupation? And they said unto Pharaoh, Thy servants are shepherds, both we, and also our fathers.

4. They said moreover unto Pharaoh, For to sojourn in the land are we come; for thy servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine is sore in the land of Canaan: now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in the land of Goshen.
4. "Ils dirent encore à Pharaon: Nous sommes venus pour séjourner dans le pays, parce qu`il n`y a plus de pâturage pour les brebis de tes serviteurs, car la famine s`appesantit sur le pays de Canaan; permets donc à tes serviteurs d`habiter au pays de Gosen."

5. And Pharaoh spake unto Joseph, saying, Thy father and thy brethren are come unto thee:
5. Pharaon dit à Joseph: Ton père et tes frères sont venus auprès de toi.
5. "Ary Farao dia niteny tamin' i Josefa ka nanao hoe: Ny rainao sy ny rahalahinao efa tonga aty aminao;"
6. The land of Egypt is before thee; in the best of the land make thy father and brethren to dwell; in the land of Goshen let them dwell: and if thou knowest any men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my cattle.
6. "Le pays d`Égypte est devant toi; établis ton père et tes frères dans la meilleure partie du pays. Qu`ils habitent dans le pays de Gosen; et, si tu trouves parmi eux des hommes capables, mets-les à la tête de mes troupeaux."
6. "Ny tany Egypta dia eo anoloanao; koa amin' izay tsara indrindra amin' ny tany no amponeno ny rainao sy ny rahalahinao; aoka honina ao amin' ny tany Gosena izy; ary raha fantatrao fa misy lehilahy mavitrika eo aminy, dia ataovy ho lehiben' ny mpiandry ny omby aman' ondriko izy."
7. And Joseph brought in Jacob his father, and set him before Pharaoh: and Jacob blessed Pharaoh.
7. Joseph fit venir Jacob, son père, et le présenta à Pharaon. Et Jacob bénit Pharaon.

8. And Pharaoh said unto Jacob, How old art thou?
8. Pharaon dit à Jacob: Quel est le nombre de jours des années de ta vie?

9. And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The days of the years of my pilgrimage are an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of my life been, and have not attained unto the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.
9. Jacob répondit à Pharaon: Les jours des années de mon pèlerinage sont de cent trente ans. Les jours des années de ma vie ont été peu nombreux et mauvais, et ils n`ont point atteint les jours des années de la vie de mes pères durant leur pèlerinage.

10. And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from before Pharaoh.
10. Jacob bénit encore Pharaon, et se retira de devant Pharaon.

11. And Joseph placed his father and his brethren, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.
11. Joseph établit son père et ses frères, et leur donna une propriété dans le pays d`Égypte, dans la meilleure partie du pays, dans la contrée de Ramsès, comme Pharaon l`avait ordonné.
11. Dia namponenin' i Josefa ny rainy sy ny rahalahiny ka nomeny zara-tany tao amin' ny tany Egypta, dia tao amin' ny tsara indrindra tamin' ny tany, dia tao amin' ny tany Ramesesa, araka izay efa nandidian' i Farao.
12. And Joseph nourished his father, and his brethren, and all his father's household, with bread, according to their families.
12. Joseph fournit du pain à son père et à ses frères, et à toute la famille de son père, selon le nombre des enfants.
12. Dia novelomin' ny Josefa tamin' ny hanina ny rainy sy ny rahalahiny mbamin' ny ankohonan' ny rainy rehetra, araka ny isan' ny fianakaviany avy.
Joseph and the Famine
13. And there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very sore, so that the land of Egypt and all the land of Canaan fainted by reason of the famine.
13. "Il n`y avait plus de pain dans tout le pays, car la famine était très grande; le pays d`Égypte et le pays de Canaan languissaient, à cause de la famine."
13. "Ary tsy nisy hanina teo amin’ny tany rehetra; fa mafy indrindra ny mosary, ka efa reraka ny tany Egypta sy ny tany Kanana rehetra noho ny mosary."
14. And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corn which they bought: and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house.
14. "Joseph recueillit tout l`argent qui se trouvait dans le pays d`Égypte et dans le pays de Canaan, contre le blé qu`on achetait; et il fit entrer cet argent dans la maison de Pharaon."
14. Dia nangonin' i Josefa ny vola rehetra izay hita tany amin' ny tany Egypta sy tany amin' ny tany Kanana, dia ny vidin' ny varimbazaha novidin' ny olona, ka nampidirin' i Josefa tao an-tranon' i Farao ny vola.
15. And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came unto Joseph, and said, Give us bread: for why should we die in thy presence? for the money faileth.
15. Quand l`argent du pays d`Égypte et du pays de Canaan fut épuisé, tous les Égyptiens vinrent à Joseph, en disant: Donne-nous du pain! Pourquoi mourrions-nous en ta présence? car l`argent manque.
15. "Ary rehefa lany ny vola tany amin' ny tany Egypta, sy tany amin' ny tany Kanana, dia nankeo amin' i Josefa ny Egyptiana rehetra ka nanao hoe: Omeo hanina izahay; fa nahoana no ho faty eto anatrehanao izahay? Fa efa lany ny vola."
16. And Joseph said, Give your cattle; and I will give you for your cattle, if money fail.
16. Joseph dit: Donnez vos troupeaux, et je vous donnerai du pain contre vos troupeaux, si l`argent manque.
16. Ary hoy kosa Josefa: Omeo ny biby fiompinareo hotakalozako, raha lany ny vola.
17. And they brought their cattle unto Joseph: and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for horses, and for the flocks, and for the cattle of the herds, and for the asses: and he fed them with bread for all their cattle for that year.
17. Ils amenèrent leurs troupeaux à Joseph, et Joseph leur donna du pain contre les chevaux, contre les troupeaux de brebis et de boeufs, et contre les ânes. Il leur fournit ainsi du pain cette année-là contre tous leurs troupeaux.

18. When that year was ended, they came unto him the second year, and said unto him, We will not hide it from my lord, how that our money is spent; my lord also hath our herds of cattle; there is not ought left in the sight of my lord, but our bodies, and our lands:
18. "Lorsque cette année fut écoulée, ils vinrent à Joseph l`année suivante, et lui dirent: Nous ne cacherons point à mon seigneur que l`argent est épuisé, et que les troupeaux de bétail ont été amenés à mon seigneur; il ne reste devant mon seigneur que nos corps et nos terres."
18. "Rehefa tapitra izany taona izany, dia nankeo aminy indray ny olona tamin' ny taona faharoa ka nanao taminy hoe: Tsy azonay afenina an' itompokolahy fa efa lany ny vola, ary efa lasan' itompokolahy koa ny biby fiompinay; tsy misy na inona na inona intsony eto imason' itompokolahy afa tsy ny tenanay sy ny taninay;"
19. Wherefore shall we die before thine eyes, both we and our land? buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants unto Pharaoh: and give us seed, that we may live, and not die, that the land be not desolate.
19. Pourquoi mourrions-nous sous tes yeux, nous et nos terres? Achète-nous avec nos terres contre du pain, et nous appartiendrons à mon seigneur, nous et nos terres. Donne-nous de quoi semer, afin que nous vivions et que nous ne mourions pas, et que nos terres ne soient pas désolées.
19. "Nahoana no dia ho faty izahay eto anatrehanao, dia izahay sy ny taninay? Takalozy hanina ny tenanay sy ny taninay, dia ho mpanompon' i Farao izahay sy ny taninay; ary omeo voa hafafy izahay mba ho velona, fa tsy ho faty, ary mba tsy ho lao ny tany."
20. And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for the Egyptians sold every man his field, because the famine prevailed over them: so the land became Pharaoh's.
20. "Joseph acheta toutes les terres de l`Égypte pour Pharaon; car les Égyptiens vendirent chacun leur champ, parce que la famine les pressait. Et le pays devint la propriété de Pharaon."
20. "Dia novidin' i Josefa ho an' i Farao ny tany Egypta rehetra; fa ny Egyptiana efa nivarotra ny sahany avy, satria resy mosary ireny; dia lasan' i Farao ny tany."
21. And as for the people, he removed them to cities from one end of the borders of Egypt even to the other end thereof.
21. Il fit passer le peuple dans les villes, d`un bout à l`autre des frontières de l`Égypte.
21. Ary ny olona dia nafindrany ho ao amin' ny tanàna hatramin' ny faran' ny faritr' i Egypta rehetra.
22. Only the land of the priests bought he not; for the priests had a portion assigned them of Pharaoh, and did eat their portion which Pharaoh gave them: wherefore they sold not their lands.
22. Seulement, il n`acheta point les terres des prêtres, parce qu`il y avait une loi de Pharaon en faveur des prêtres, qui vivaient du revenu que leur assurait Pharaon: c`est pourquoi ils ne vendirent point leurs terres.
22. "Ny tanin' ny mpisorona ihany no tsy mba novidiny, fa nanana anjara tamin' i Farao ny mpisorona ka nihinana ny anjara izay nomen' i Farao azy; izany no tsy nivarotany ny taniny."
23. Then Joseph said unto the people, Behold, I have bought you this day and your land for Pharaoh: lo, here is seed for you, and ye shall sow the land.
23. "Joseph dit au peuple: Je vous ai achetés aujourd`hui avec vos terres, pour Pharaon; voici pour vous de la semence, et vous pourrez ensemencer le sol."
23. Dia hoy Josefa tamin' ny olona: Indro, efa novidiko androany ianareo sy ny taninareo ho an' i Farao: koa indreny ny voa ho anareo, dia hofafazanareo ny tany.
24. And it shall come to pass in the increase, that ye shall give the fifth part unto Pharaoh, and four parts shall be your own, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for them of your households, and for food for your little ones.
24. A la récolte, vous donnerez un cinquième à Pharaon, et vous aurez les quatre autres parties, pour ensemencer les champs, et pour vous nourrir avec vos enfants et ceux qui sont dans vos maisons.
24. Ary izao no hiseho, amin' ny fahavokarana, dia haterinareo ho an' i Farao ny ampahadiminy ary ho anareo kosa ny efa-toko, ho voa afafy any an-tsaha sy hohaninareo mbamin' izay ao an-tranonareo ary hohanin' ny zanakareo madinika.
25. And they said, Thou hast saved our lives: let us find grace in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh's servants.
25. Ils dirent: Tu nous sauves la vie! que nous trouvions grâce aux yeux de mon seigneur, et nous serons esclaves de Pharaon.
25. "Ary hoy izy ireo: Efa namonjy ny ainay ianao; aoka mba hahita fitia eo imason' itompokolahy izahay, dia ho mpanompon' i Farao."
26. And Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt unto this day, that Pharaoh should have the fifth part; except the land of the priests only, which became not Pharaoh's.
26. "Joseph fit de cela une loi, qui a subsisté jusqu`à ce jour, et d`après laquelle un cinquième du revenu des terres de l`Égypte appartient à Pharaon; il n`y a que les terres des prêtres qui ne soient point à Pharaon."
26. "Dia nataon' i Josefa ho lalàna tany amin' ny tany Egypta mandraka androany izany, fa ho an' i Farao ny ampahadiminy; fa ny tanin' ny mpisorona ihany no tsy mba lasan' i Farao."
27. And Israel dwelt in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and they had possessions therein, and grew, and multiplied exceedingly.
27. Israël habita dans le pays d`Égypte, dans le pays de Gosen. Ils eurent des possessions, ils furent féconds et multiplièrent beaucoup.
27. "Ary nonina tao amin' ny tany Egypta ny Isiraely, dia tao amin' ny tany Gosena; ary nahazo zara-tany tao izy, dia nihamaro anaka ka nihabetsaka indrindra."
28. And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years: so the whole age of Jacob was an hundred forty and seven years.
28. "Jacob vécut dix-sept ans dans le pays d`Égypte; et les jours des années de la vie de Jacob furent de cent quarante-sept ans."
28. "Ary ny andro niainan' i Jakoba tao amin' ny tany Egypta dia fito ambin' ny folo taona; koa ny andro rehetra niainan' i Jakoba dia fito amby efapolo amby zato taona."
29. And the time drew nigh that Israel must die: and he called his son Joseph, and said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me; bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt:
29. Lorsqu`Israël approcha du moment de sa mort, il appela son fils Joseph, et lui dit: Si j`ai trouvé grâce à tes yeux, mets, je te prie, ta main sous ma cuisse, et use envers moi de bonté et de fidélité: ne m`enterre pas en Égypte!

30. But I will lie with my fathers, and thou shalt carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their buryingplace. And he said, I will do as thou hast said.
30. Quand je serai couché avec mes pères, tu me transporteras hors de l`Égypte, et tu m`enterreras dans leur sépulcre. Joseph répondit: Je ferai selon ta parole.

31. And he said, Swear unto me. And he sware unto him. And Israel bowed himself upon the bed's head.
31. Jacob dit: Jure-le-moi. Et Joseph le lui jura. Puis Israël se prosterna sur le chevet de son lit.
31. Ary hoy Jakoba: Mianiàna àry amiko. Dia nianiana taminy izy. Dia niankohoka teo an-dohan' ny farafara Isiraely.
