Jacob Arrives in Paddan Aram
1. Then Jacob went on his journey, and came into the land of the people of the east.
1. Jacob se mit en marche, et s`en alla au pays des fils de l`Orient.
1. Dia nanohy ny diany Jakoba ka nankany amin' ny tanin' ny zanaky ny atsinanana.
2. And he looked, and behold a well in the field, and, lo, there were three flocks of sheep lying by it; for out of that well they watered the flocks: and a great stone was upon the well's mouth.
2. "Il regarda. Et voici, il y avait un puits dans les champs; et voici, il y avait à côté trois troupeaux de brebis qui se reposaient, car c`était à ce puits qu`on abreuvait les troupeaux. Et la pierre sur l`ouverture du puits était grande."
2. "Dia nijery izy, ka, indro, nisy fantsakana tany an-tsaha, ary, indro, nisy ondry aman' osy andiany telo nandry teo anilany; fa teo amin' izany fantsakana izany no nampisotroan' ny olona ny ondry aman' osy; ary nisy vato lehibe teo ambavan' ny fantsakana."
3. And thither were all the flocks gathered: and they rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone again upon the well's mouth in his place.
3. "Tous les troupeaux se rassemblaient là; on roulait la pierre de dessus l`ouverture du puits, on abreuvait les troupeaux, et l`on remettait la pierre à sa place sur l`ouverture du puits."
3. "Ary nangonina teo ny andian' ny ondry aman' osy rehetra, dia nakodian' ny olona ny vato hiala amin' ny vavan' ny fantsakana ka nampisotroiny ny ondry aman' osy; ary dia naveriny teo ambavan' ny fantsakana indray ny vato ho amin' ny fitoerany."
4. And Jacob said unto them, My brethren, whence be ye? And they said, Of Haran are we.
4. Jacob dit aux bergers: Mes frères, d`où êtes-vous? Ils répondirent: Nous sommes de Charan.
4. Ary hoy Jakoba tamin' ny olona: Ry rahalahiko, avy aiza moa ianareo? Ary hoy ireo: Avy any Harana izahay.
5. And he said unto them, Know ye Laban the son of Nahor? And they said, We know him.
5. Il leur dit: Connaissez-vous Laban, fils de Nachor? Ils répondirent: Nous le connaissons.
5. Ary hoy izy tamin' ireo: Moa mba fantatrareo va Labana, zanakalahin' i Nahora? Dia hoy ireo: Fantatray izy.
6. And he said unto them, Is he well? And they said, He is well: and, behold, Rachel his daughter cometh with the sheep.
6. "Il leur dit: Est-il en bonne santé? Ils répondirent: Il est en bonne santé; et voici Rachel, sa fille, qui vient avec le troupeau."

7. And he said, Lo, it is yet high day, neither is it time that the cattle should be gathered together: water ye the sheep, and go and feed them.
7. "Il dit: Voici, il est encore grand jour, et il n`est pas temps de rassembler les troupeaux; abreuvez les brebis, puis allez, et faites-les paître."
7. "Ary hoy izy: Indro, mbola antoandrobe ny andro, ka tsy mby amin' ny fotoana famoriana ny omby aman' ondry; ampisotroy ny ondry aman' osy, dia andeha andraso."
8. And they said, We cannot, until all the flocks be gathered together, and till they roll the stone from the well's mouth; then we water the sheep.
8. "Ils répondirent: Nous ne le pouvons pas, jusqu`à ce que tous les troupeaux soient rassemblés; c`est alors qu`on roule la pierre de dessus l`ouverture du puits, et qu`on abreuve les brebis."
8. "Fa hoy ireo: Tsy azonay hatao izany, raha tsy efa tafangona avokoa ny andian' ny ondry aman' osy rehetra, ka hakodian' ny olona ny vato hiala amin' ny vavan' ny fantsakana; dia vao hampisotro ny ondry aman' osy izahay."
9. And while he yet spake with them, Rachel came with her father's sheep: for she kept them.
9. "Comme il leur parlait encore, survint Rachel avec le troupeau de son père; car elle était bergère."
9. "Raha mbola niteny taminy izy, dia tamy Rahely niaraka tamin' ny ondry aman' osin-drainy; fa niandry ireo izy."
10. And it came to pass, when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother's brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother's brother, that Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother's brother.
10. Lorsque Jacob vit Rachel, fille de Laban, frère de sa mère, et le troupeau de Laban, frère de sa mère, il s`approcha, roula la pierre de dessus l`ouverture du puits, et abreuva le troupeau de Laban, frère de sa mère.

11. And Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept.

12. And Jacob told Rachel that he was her father's brother, and that he was Rebekah's son: and she ran and told her father.

13. And it came to pass, when Laban heard the tidings of Jacob his sister's son, that he ran to meet him, and embraced him, and kissed him, and brought him to his house. And he told Laban all these things.
13. Dès que Laban eut entendu parler de Jacob, fils de sa soeur, il courut au-devant de lui, il l`embrassa et le baisa, et il le fit venir dans sa maison. Jacob raconta à Laban toutes ces choses.

Jacob Marries Leah and Rachel
14. And Laban said to him, Surely thou art my bone and my flesh. And he abode with him the space of a month.
14. Et Laban lui dit: Certainement, tu es mon os et ma chair. Jacob demeura un mois chez Laban.
14. Ary hoy Labana taminy: Taolako sy nofoko tokoa ianao. Dia nitoetra teo aminy nandritra ny iray volana izy.
15. And Laban said unto Jacob, Because thou art my brother, shouldest thou therefore serve me for nought? tell me, what shall thy wages be?
15. Puis Laban dit à Jacob: Parce que tu es mon parent, me serviras-tu pour rien? Dis-moi quel sera ton salaire.
15. Ary hoy Labana tamin' i Jakoba: Satria rahalahiko ianao, dia moa tokony hanompo ahy maina va ianao? Lazao ahy izay ho karamanao.
16. And Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder was Leah, and the name of the younger was Rachel.
16. Or, Laban avait deux filles: l`aînée s`appelait Léa, et la cadette Rachel.
16. Ary nanan-janaka roa vavy Labana: Lea no anaran' ny zokiny, ary Rahely no anaran' ny zandriny.
17. Leah was tender eyed; but Rachel was beautiful and well favoured.
17. "Léa avait les yeux délicats; mais Rachel était belle de taille et belle de figure."
17. "Lea dia malefa-pijery; fa Rahely bikana sady tsara tarehy."
18. And Jacob loved Rachel; and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter.
18. Jacob aimait Rachel, et il dit: Je te servirai sept ans pour Rachel, ta fille cadette.

19. And Laban said, It is better that I give her to thee, than that I should give her to another man: abide with me.

20. And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her.
20. Ainsi Jacob servit sept années pour Rachel: et elles furent à ses yeux comme quelques jours, parce qu`il l`aimait.
20. "Ary Jakoba nanompo fito taona noho ny amin-dRahely; ka toa andro vitsy taminy izany noho ny fitiavany azy."
21. And Jacob said unto Laban, Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in unto her.
21. Ensuite Jacob dit à Laban: Donne-moi ma femme, car mon temps est accompli: et j`irai vers elle.
21. Ary hoy Jakoba tamin' i Labana: Omeo ahy ny vadiko, mba hanambadiako azy, fa efa tapitra ny fetr' androko.
22. And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.
22. Laban réunit tous les gens du lieu, et fit un festin.
22. Ary nampamory ny tompon-tany rehetra Labana ka nanao fanasana.
23. And it came to pass in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter, and brought her to him; and he went in unto her.
23. Le soir, il prit Léa, sa fille, et l`amena vers Jacob, qui s`approcha d`elle.
23. "Ary izao no niseho nony hariva, fa naka an' i Lea zanany vavy izy ka nitondra azy ho eo aminy; dia nanambady azy Jakoba."
24. And Laban gave unto his daughter Leah Zilpah his maid for an handmaid.
24. Et Laban donna pour servante à Léa, sa fille, Zilpa, sa servante.
24. Ary nomen' i Labana an' i Lea zanany vavy Zilpa ankizivaviny hanompo azy.
25. And it came to pass, that in the morning, behold, it was Leah: and he said to Laban, What is this thou hast done unto me? did not I serve with thee for Rachel? wherefore then hast thou beguiled me?
25. Le lendemain matin, voilà que c`était Léa. Alors Jacob dit à Laban: Qu`est-ce que tu m`as fait? N`est-ce pas pour Rachel que j`ai servi chez toi? Pourquoi m`as-tu trompé?
25. "Ary izao no niseho, nony maraina, indro, fa Lea izy; dia hoy Jakoba tamin' i Labana: Ahoana izao nataonao tamiko izao? Moa tsy Rahely va no nanompoako anao? Ka nahoana no nofitahinao aho?"
26. And Laban said, It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn.
26. Laban dit: Ce n`est point la coutume dans ce lieu de donner la cadette avant l`aînée.
26. Dia hoy Labana: Tsy fanao aty amin' ny taninay ny mamoaka ny zandriny alohan' ny zokiny.
27. Fulfil her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.
27. Achève la semaine avec celle-ci, et nous te donnerons aussi l`autre pour le service que tu feras encore chez moi pendant sept nouvelles années.

28. And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week: and he gave him Rachel his daughter to wife also.
28. "Jacob fit ainsi, et il acheva la semaine avec Léa; puis Laban lui donna pour femme Rachel, sa fille."
28. "Dia nataon' i Jakoba izany, ka notanterahiny ny herinandrony; dia nomen' i Labana azy koa Rahely zanany vavy ho vadiny."
29. And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his handmaid to be her maid.
29. Et Laban donna pour servante à Rachel, sa fille, Bilha, sa servante.
29. Ary nomen' i Labana an-dRahely zanany vavy kosa i Bila ankizivaviny hanompo azy.
30. And he went in also unto Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years.
30. "Jacob alla aussi vers Rachel, qu`il aimait plus que Léa; et il servit encore chez Laban pendant sept nouvelles années."
30. "Dia novadin' i Jakoba koa Rahely; ary izy no tiany mihoatra noho Lea; dia nanompo an' i Labana fito taona indray izy."
Jacob's Children
31. And when the LORD saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren.
31. "L`Éternel vit que Léa n`était pas aimée; et il la rendit féconde, tandis que Rachel était stérile."
31. "Ary rehefa hitan' i Jehovah fa nankahalaina Lea, dia nampanana anaka azy Izy; fa momba kosa Rahely."
32. And Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name Reuben: for she said, Surely the LORD hath looked upon my affliction; now therefore my husband will love me.
32. "Léa devint enceinte, et enfanta un fils, à qui elle donna le nom de Ruben; car elle dit: L`Éternel a vu mon humiliation, et maintenant mon mari m`aimera."
32. "Dia nanana anaka Lea ka niteraka zazalahy, ary ny anarany dia nataony hoe: Robena; fa hoy izy: Efa nitsinjo ny fahoriako tokoa Jehovah; fa ankehitriny dia ho tian' ny vadiko aho."
33. And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Because the LORD hath heard that I was hated, he hath therefore given me this son also: and she called his name Simeon.
33. Elle devint encore enceinte, et enfanta un fils, et elle dit: L`Éternel a entendu que je n`étais pas aimée, et il m`a aussi accordé celui-ci. Et elle lui donna le nom de Siméon.
33. "Dia nanana anaka indray izy ka niteraka zazalahy; ary hoy izy: Satria efa ren' i Jehovah fa nankahalaina aho, noho izany dia nomeny ahy koa ity zazalahy ity; dia nataony hoe: Simeona ny anarany."
34. And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi.
34. "Elle devint encore enceinte, et enfanta un fils, et elle dit: Pour cette fois, mon mari s`attachera à moi; car je lui ai enfanté trois fils. C`est pourquoi on lui donna le nom de Lévi."
34. "Dia nanana anaka indray izy ka niteraka zazalahy; ary hoy izy: Ankehitriny izao dia hikambana amiko ny vadiko, fa efa niteraka zazalahy telo ho azy aho; izany no nanaovana ny anarany hoe Levy."
35. And she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, Now will I praise the LORD: therefore she called his name Judah; and left bearing.
35. Elle devint encore enceinte, et enfanta un fils, et elle dit: Cette fois, je louerai l`Éternel. C`est pourquoi elle lui donna le nom de Juda. Et elle cessa d`enfanter.
35. "Dia nanana anaka indray izy ka niteraka zazalahy; ary hoy izy: Ankehitriny hidera an' i Jehovah aho; noho izany, dia nataony hoe: Joda no anarany; dia nitsaha-jaza izy."
