Isaac and Abimelech
1. And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar.
1. "Il y eut une famine dans le pays, outre la première famine qui eut lieu du temps d`Abraham; et Isaac alla vers Abimélec, roi des Philistins, à Guérar."
1. Ary nisy mosary teo amin' ny tany, ankoatra ilay mosary voalohany tamin' ny andron' i Abrahama. Ary nankany amin' i Abimeleka, mpanjakan' ny Filistina tany Gerara i Isaka.
2. And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:
2. L`Éternel lui apparut, et dit: Ne descends pas en Égypte, demeure dans le pays que je te dirai.
2. "Ary niseho taminy Jehovah ka nanao hoe: Aza midina any Egypta; mitoera eo amin' ny tany izay holazaiko anao."
3. Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;
3. Séjourne dans ce pays-ci: je serai avec toi, et je te bénirai, car je donnerai toutes ces contrées à toi et à ta postérité, et je tiendrai le serment que j`ai fait à Abraham, ton père.
3. "Mivahinia eto amin' ity tany ity ianao, dia homba anao sy hitahy anao Aho; fa ianao sy ny taranakao no homeko ireto tany rehetra ireto, ka hotoviko ny fianianana izay nataoko tamin' i Abrahama rainao ;"
4. And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;
4. "Je multiplierai ta postérité comme les étoiles du ciel; je donnerai à ta postérité toutes ces contrées; et toutes les nations de la terre seront bénies en ta postérité,"
4. "Dia hahamaro ny taranakao ho tahaka ny kintana eny amin' ny lanitra Aho, ka homeko ny taranakao ireto tany rehetra ireto, ary amin' ny taranakao no hitahiana ny firenena rehetra ambonin' ny tany ;"
5. Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
5. parce qu`Abraham a obéi à ma voix, et qu`il a observé mes ordres, mes commandements, mes statuts et mes lois.

6. And Isaac dwelt in Gerar:

7. And the men of the place asked him of his wife; and he said, She is my sister: for he feared to say, She is my wife; lest, said he, the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she was fair to look upon.
7. "Lorsque les gens du lieu faisaient des questions sur sa femme, il disait: C`est ma soeur; car il craignait, en disant ma femme, que les gens du lieu ne le tuassent, parce que Rebecca était belle de figure."
7. "Ary nanontany azy ny amin' ny vadiny ny lehilahy tompon-tany; ary hoy izy: Anabaviko izy; fa natahotra hilaza hoe vadiko izy; fandrao, hoy izy, hamono ahy ny lehilahy tompon-tany noho Rebeka, satria tsara tarehy izy."
8. And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac was sporting with Rebekah his wife.
8. Comme son séjour se prolongeait, il arriva qu`Abimélec, roi des Philistins, regardant par la fenêtre, vit Isaac qui plaisantait avec Rebecca, sa femme.

9. And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she is thy wife: and how saidst thou, She is my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her.
9. Abimélec fit appeler Isaac, et dit: Certainement, c`est ta femme. Comment as-tu pu dire: C`est ma soeur? Isaac lui répondit: J`ai parlé ainsi, de peur de mourir à cause d`elle.
9. Ary Abimeleka dia niantso an' Isaka ka nanao hoe: Indro tena vadinao izy, ka nahoana no nolazainao fa anabaviko izy? Ary hoy Isaka taminy: Satria hoy aho, andrao maty aho noho ny aminy.
10. And Abimelech said, What is this thou hast done unto us? one of the people might lightly have lien with thy wife, and thou shouldest have brought guiltiness upon us.
10. Et Abimélec dit: Qu`est-ce que tu nous as fait? Peu s`en est fallu que quelqu`un du peuple n`ait couché avec ta femme, et tu nous aurais rendus coupables.
10. Ary hoy Abimeleka: Inona izao nataonao taminay izao? Saiky nisy olona nandry mora foana tamin' ny vadinao, ka dia ho nahatonga heloka taminay ianao.
11. And Abimelech charged all his people, saying, He that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely be put to death.
11. Alors Abimélec fit cette ordonnance pour tout le peuple: Celui qui touchera à cet homme ou à sa femme sera mis à mort.
11. Dia nandidy ny vahoakany rehetra Abimeleka ka nanao hoe: Izay manendry io lehilahy io na ny vadiny dia hatao maty tokoa.
12. Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him.
12. "Isaac sema dans ce pays, et il recueillit cette année le centuple; car l`Éternel le bénit."
12. "Dia namafy tamin' izany tany izany Isaka ka nahazo zato heny tamin' izay taona izay; ary Jehovah nitahy azy."
13. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great:
13. Cet homme devint riche, et il alla s`enrichissant de plus en plus, jusqu`à ce qu`il devint fort riche.
13. Ary nanankarena ralehilahy ka nandroso sy nitombo ambara-pahatongany ho mpanjatobe indrindra:
14. For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.
14. Il avait des troupeaux de menu bétail et des troupeaux de gros bétail, et un grand nombre de serviteurs: aussi les Philistins lui portèrent envie.

15. For all the wells which his father's servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth.
15. Tous les puits qu`avaient creusés les serviteurs de son père, du temps d`Abraham, son père, les Philistins les comblèrent et les remplirent de poussière.
15. Fa ny lavaka fantsakana rehetra, izay efa nohadin' ny mpanompon-drainy tamin' ny andron' i Abrahama rainy, dia efa novonoin' ny Filistina sy nototofany tany.
16. And Abimelech said unto Isaac, Go from us; for thou art much mightier than we.
16. Et Abimélec dit à Isaac: Va-t-en de chez nous, car tu es beaucoup plus puissant que nous.
16. Ary hoy Abimeleka tamin' Isaka: Mialà eto aminay, fa mahery lavitra noho izahay ianao.
17. And Isaac departed thence, and pitched his tent in the valley of Gerar, and dwelt there.
17. Isaac partit de là, et campa dans la vallée de Guérar, où il s`établit.

18. And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in the days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and he called their names after the names by which his father had called them.
18. "Isaac creusa de nouveau les puits d`eau qu`on avait creusés du temps d`Abraham, son père, et qu`avaient comblés les Philistins après la mort d`Abraham; et il leur donna les mêmes noms que son père leur avait donnés."
18. "Dia noloaran' Isaka indray ny lavaka fantsakan-drano izay efa voahady tamin' ny andron' i Abrahama rainy; fa efa novonoin' ny Filistina ireny taorian' ny fahafatesan' i Abrahama; ary araka ny anarana izay efa niantsoan' ny rainy azy ireny no nataony anarany."
19. And Isaac's servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water.
19. Les serviteurs d`Isaac creusèrent encore dans la vallée, et y trouvèrent un puits d`eau vive.
19. Dia nihady teo amin' ny lohasaha ny mpanompon' Isaka ka nahita rano velona teo.
20. And the herdmen of Gerar did strive with Isaac's herdmen, saying, The water is ours: and he called the name of the well Esek; because they strove with him.
20. Les bergers de Guérar querellèrent les bergers d`Isaac, en disant: L`eau est à nous. Et il donna au puits le nom d`Ések, parce qu`ils s`étaient disputés avec lui.
20. "Ary niady tamin' ny mpiandry ombin' Isaka ny mpiandry omby tao Gerara ka nanao hoe: Anay ny rano; ary ny anaran' ny lavaka fantsakana dia nataon' Isaka hoe Eseka, satria nifanditra taminy izy ireo."
21. And they digged another well, and strove for that also: and he called the name of it Sitnah.
21. "Ses serviteurs creusèrent un autre puits, au sujet duquel on chercha aussi une querelle; et il l`appela Sitna."
21. "Dia nihady lavaka fantsakana hafa izy, ka niadiany koa io; ary ny anarany dia nataony hoe Sitna."
22. And he removed from thence, and digged another well; and for that they strove not: and he called the name of it Rehoboth; and he said, For now the LORD hath made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.
22. "Il se transporta de là, et creusa un autre puits, pour lequel on ne chercha pas querelle; et il l`appela Rehoboth, car, dit-il, l`Éternel nous a maintenant mis au large, et nous prospérerons dans le pays."
22. "Dia nifindra niala teo izy ka nihady lavaka fantsakana hafa; fa io kosa tsy mba niadiany; ary ny anarany dia nataony hoe Rehobota; fa hoy izy: Satria efa nanaovan' i Jehovah toerana isika ankehitriny, dia hihamaro eto amin' ny tany."
23. And he went up from thence to Beersheba.
23. Il remonta de là à Beer Schéba.
23. Dia niakatra niala teo izy ka nankany Beri-sheba.
24. And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham's sake.
24. "L`Éternel lui apparut dans la nuit, et dit: Je suis le Dieu d`Abraham, ton père; ne crains point, car je suis avec toi; je te bénirai, et je multiplierai ta postérité, à cause d`Abraham, mon serviteur."
24. "Ary niseho taminy tamin' iny alina iny Jehovah ka nanao hoe: Izaho no Andriamanitr' i Abrahama rainao; aza matahotra fa momba anao Aho, ka hitahy anao sy hahamaro ny taranakao noho ny amin' i Abrahama mpanompoko."
25. And he builded an altar there, and called upon the name of the LORD, and pitched his tent there: and there Isaac's servants digged a well.
25. Il bâtit là un autel, invoqua le nom de l`Éternel, et y dressa sa tente. Et les serviteurs d`Isaac y creusèrent un puits.
25. "Ary nanorina alitara teo izy, dia niantso ny anaran' i Jehovah sady nanorina ny lainy teo; dia nihady lavaka fantsakana teo ny mpanompon' Isaka."
26. Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Phichol the chief captain of his army.
26. Abimélec vint de Guérar auprès de lui, avec Ahuzath, son ami, et Picol, chef de son armée.
26. Ary Abimeleka mbamin'i Ahozota, iray amin' ny sakaizany sy Pikola, komandin' ny miaramilany, dia niala tao Gerara hankany amin' Isaka.
27. And Isaac said unto them, Wherefore come ye to me, seeing ye hate me, and have sent me away from you?
27. Isaac leur dit: Pourquoi venez-vous vers moi, puisque vous me haïssez et que vous m`avez renvoyé de chez vous?
27. Fa hoy Isaka taminy: Nahoana ianareo no mankaty amiko, kanefa mankahala ahy ka nandroaka ahy niala teo aminareo?
28. And they said, We saw certainly that the LORD was with thee: and we said, Let there be now an oath betwixt us, even betwixt us and thee, and let us make a covenant with thee;
28. Ils répondirent: Nous voyons que l`Éternel est avec toi. C`est pourquoi nous disons: Qu`il y ait un serment entre nous, entre nous et toi, et que nous fassions alliance avec toi!
28. "Ary hoy izy ireo: Hitanay marimarina fa momba anao Jehovah, ka hoy izahay: Aoka hanao fianianana isika ankehitriny, dia izahay sy ianao, ary izahay hanao fanekena aminao;"
29. That thou wilt do us no hurt, as we have not touched thee, and as we have done unto thee nothing but good, and have sent thee away in peace: thou art now the blessed of the LORD.
29. Jure que tu ne nous feras aucun mal, de même que nous ne t`avons point maltraité, que nous t`avons fait seulement du bien, et que nous t`avons laissé partir en paix. Tu es maintenant béni de l`Éternel.
29. "Fa tsy hanisy ratsy anay ianao, tahaka ny tsy nanendrenay anao akory, sy tahaka ny tsy nanaovanay na inona na inona taminao afa-tsy ny soa ihany, fa efa nampandehaninay soa aman-tsara ianao; ianao ankehitriny ilay notahin' i Jehovah."
30. And he made them a feast, and they did eat and drink.
30. Isaac leur fit un festin, et ils mangèrent et burent.
30. Dia nanao fanasana ho azy Isaka, ka dia nihinana sy nisotro izy.
31. And they rose up betimes in the morning, and sware one to another: and Isaac sent them away, and they departed from him in peace.
31. Ils se levèrent de bon matin, et se lièrent l`un à l`autre par un serment. Isaac les laissa partir, et ils le quittèrent en paix.
31. "Dia nifoha maraina koa izy ireo, ka samy nianiana ny andaniny sy ny ankilany; dia nampandehanin' Isaka ireo, ka nandao azy soa aman-tsara."
32. And it came to pass the same day, that Isaac's servants came, and told him concerning the well which they had digged, and said unto him, We have found water.
32. Ce même jour, des serviteurs d`Isaac vinrent lui parler du puits qu`ils creusaient, et lui dirent: Nous avons trouvé de l`eau.
32. Ary izao no niseho tamin' izany andro izany, avy ny mpanompon' Isaka ka nanambara taminy ny amin' ny lavaka fantsakana izay efa nohadiny ka nanao taminy hoe: Efa nahita rano izahay.
33. And he called it Shebah: therefore the name of the city is Beersheba unto this day.
33. Et il l`appela Schiba. C`est pourquoi on a donné à la ville le nom de Beer Schéba, jusqu`à ce jour.
33. "Dia nataony hoe Sheba izany; noho izany dia Beri-sheba no anaran' ny tanàna mandraka androany."
34. And Esau was forty years old when he took to wife Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Bashemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite:
34. Ésaü, âgé de quarante ans, prit pour femmes Judith, fille de Beéri, le Héthien, et Basmath, fille d`Élon, le Héthien.
34. Ary efapolo taona Esao raha nanambady an' i Jodita zanakavavin' i Bery Hetita, sy Basemata zanakavavin' i Elona Hetita:
35. Which were a grief of mind unto Isaac and to Rebekah.
35. Elles furent un sujet d`amertume pour le coeur d`Isaac et de Rebecca.
