The Cooking Pot
1. Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

2. Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day.
2. Fils de l`homme, mets par écrit la date de ce jour, de ce jour-ci! Le roi de Babylone s`approche de Jérusalem en ce jour même.
2. "Ry zanak' olona, soratinao ny anaran' ny andro, dia izao andro anio izao; ny mpanjakan' i Babylona miantomboka mamely an' i Jerosalema amin' izao andro anio izao."
3. And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set it on, and also pour water into it:
3. Propose une parabole à la famille de rebelles, et dis-leur: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l`Éternel: Place, place la chaudière, et verses-y de l`eau.
3. "Ary milazà fanoharana amin' ny taranaka maditra ka ataovy aminy hoe: izao no lazain' i Jehovah Andriamanitra: asio vilany eo an-tokoana, eny ataovy eo an-tokoana, ka asio rano ao anatiny;"
4. Gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.
4. "Mets-y les morceaux, tous les bons morceaux, la cuisse, l`épaule; remplis-la des meilleurs os."
4. "Ary arotsahy ao ny vaingambaingany, dia ny vaingambaingany tsara rehetra, na ny feny na ny sorony; fenoy taolana voafantina izy."
5. Take the choice of the flock, and burn also the bones under it, and make it boil well, and let them seethe the bones of it therein.
5. "Choisis dans le troupeau, et entasse du bois sous la chaudière; fais bouillir à gros bouillons, et que les os qui sont dedans cuisent aussi."
5. Alao ny ondry voafantina, ka dory ao ambaniny koa ny taolana, dia ampangotrahy tsara, ka andrahoy ao ny taolana.
6. Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it.
6. C`est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur, l`Éternel: Malheur à la ville sanguinaire, chaudière pleine de rouille, et dont la rouille ne se détache pas! Tires-en les morceaux les uns après les autres, sans recourir au sort.
6. Koa izao no lazain' i Jehovah Andriamanitra: lozan' ny tanàna mpandatsa-drà sy ny vilany izay misy harafesina tsy mety afaka ao anatiny! Loary tsirairay ny vaingambaingany, fa aza anaovana antsapaka.
7. For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust;
7. "Car le sang qu`elle a versé est au milieu d`elle; elle l`a mis sur le roc nu, elle ne l`a pas répandu sur la terre pour le couvrir de poussière."
7. "Fa ny rany dia ao aminy; teo ambonin' ny vatolampy mangadihady no nametrahany azy; tsy naidiny tamin' ny tany hosaronan' ny vovoka izy,"
8. That it might cause fury to come up to take vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered.
8. Afin de montrer ma fureur, afin de me venger, j`ai répandu son sang sur le roc nu, pour qu`il ne fût pas couvert.
8. Mba hampakatra ny fahatezerana hamaliana azy no nametrahako ny rany teo ambonin' ny vatolampy mangadihady, mba tsy ho voasarona.
9. Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great.
9. C`est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur, l`Éternel: Malheur à la ville sanguinaire! Moi aussi je veux faire un grand bûcher.
9. Koa izao no lazain' i Jehovah Andriamanitra: lozan' ny tanàna mpandatsa-dra! Izaho koa hamory kitay betsaka ho an' ny afo.
10. Heap on wood, kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and spice it well, and let the bones be burned.
10. Entasse le bois, allume le feu, cuis bien la chair, assaisonne-la, et que les os soient brûlés.
10. Atohofy betsaka ny kitay hazo, ampireheto ny afo, masaho ny hena ary asio zavatra hahamanitra azy tsara ary aoka ho may ny taolana.
11. Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed.
11. Puis mets la chaudière vide sur les charbons, afin qu`elle s`échauffe, que son airain devienne brûlant, que sa souillure se fonde au dedans, et que sa rouille se consume.
11. Dia foàny ny vilany ka ataovy eo ambonin' ny vainafo hampahafana sy hahamay ny varahiny ka ho levona eo aminy ny fahalotoany ary ho afaka ny harafesiny.
12. She hath wearied herself with lies, and her great scum went not forth out of her: her scum shall be in the fire.
12. "Les efforts sont inutiles, la rouille dont elle est pleine ne se détache pas; la rouille ne s`en ira que par le feu."
12. "Efa nanasatra dia nanasatra ny tenany tamin' ny lainga izy nefa tsy nety afaka ny harafesimbeny; ho eo amin' ny afo ny harafesiny."
13. In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee.
13. "Le crime est dans ta souillure; parce que j`ai voulu te purifier et que tu n`es pas devenue pure, tu ne seras plus purifiée de ta souillure jusqu`à ce que j`aie assouvi sur toi ma fureur."
13. "Ny fahalotoanao dia misy fijejojejoana; satria nanadio anao Aho, nefa tsy nadio ianao, dia tsy hadio ho afaka amin' ny fahalotoanao intsony ianao ambara-pialako fo aminao."
14. I the LORD have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord GOD.
14. "Moi, l`Éternel, j`ai parlé; cela arrivera, et je l`exécuterai; je ne reculerai pas, et je n`aurai ni pitié ni repentir. On te jugera selon ta conduite et selon tes actions, dit le Seigneur, l`Éternel."
14. "Izaho Jehovah no niteny izany, ka ho tonga izany ary hataoko; tsy hiahotrahotra Aho, na hiantra, na hanenina; araka ny fanaonao sy ny asanao no hitsarany anao, hoy Jehovah Andriamanitra."
Ezekiel's Wife Dies
15. Also the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
15. La parole de l`Éternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:
15. Ary tonga tamiko ny tenin' i Jehovah nanao hoe:
16. Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet neither shalt thou mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down.
16. Fils de l`homme, voici, je t`enlève par une mort soudaine ce qui fait les délices de tes yeux. Tu ne te lamenteras point, tu ne pleureras point, et tes larmes ne couleront pas.
16. "Ry zanak' olona, indro, efa hoesoriko amin' ny loza indray mamely monja ilay tian' ny masonao; nefa aza misaona na mitomany na mandatsa-dranomaso akory ianao."
17. Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the tire of thine head upon thee, and put on thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men.
17. Soupire en silence, ne prends pas le deuil des morts, attache ton turban, mets ta chaussure à tes pieds, ne te couvre pas la barbe, et ne mange pas le pain des autres.
17. Aza mitomany na misaona ny maty: afehezo aminao ny hamamanao, ary asio kiraro ny tongotrao, ary aza manarona ny saokanao na mihinana ny fahan-kanina aterin' olona.
18. So I spake unto the people in the morning: and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.
18. J`avais parlé au peuple le matin, et ma femme mourut le soir. Le lendemain matin, je fis ce qui m`avait été ordonné.
18. "Ary nony maraina dia niteny tamin' ny olona aho; ary nony hariva dia maty ny vadiko; ary nony maraina indray dia nanao araka ny efa nandidiana ahy aho."
19. And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so?
19. Le peuple me dit: Ne nous expliqueras-tu pas ce que signifie pour nous ce que tu fais?
19. Ary hoy ny olona tamiko: moa tsy holazainao aminay va izay hevitra tokony ho azonay amin' izao ataonao izao?
20. Then I answered them, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
20. Je leur répondis: La parole de l`Éternel m`a été adressée, en ces mots:
20. Dia namaly azy aho hoe: tonga tamiko ny tenin' i Jehovah nanao hoe:
21. Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword.
21. "Dis à la maison d`Israël: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l`Éternel: Voici, je vais profaner mon sanctuaire, l`orgueil de votre force, les délices de vos yeux, l`objet de votre amour; et vos fils et vos filles que vous avez laissés tomberont par l`épée."
21. "Lazao amin' ny taranak' Isiraely hoe: izao no lazain' i Jehovah Andriamanitra: indro, holotoiko ny fitoerako masina izay reharehan' ny herinareo, dia ilay tian' ny masonareo sy mahamanina ny fanahinareo; ary ho lavon' ny sabatra ny zanakalahinareo sy ny zanakavavinareo, izay nilaozanareo."
22. And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.
22. Vous ferez alors comme j`ai fait. Vous ne vous couvrirez pas la barbe, vous ne mangerez pas le pain des autres,
22. "Dia manaova tahaka ny nataoko ianareo: aza manarona ny saokanareo ianareo, na mihinana ny fahan-kanina aterin' olona;"
23. And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away for your iniquities, and mourn one toward another.
23. "vous aurez vos turbans sur la tête et vos chaussures aux pieds, vous ne vous lamenterez pas et vous ne pleurerez pas; mais vous serez frappés de langueur pour vos iniquités, et vous gémirez entre vous. Ézéchiel sera pour vous un signe."
23. "Ary aoka ho eo an-dohanareo ny hamamanareo sy ho eo an-tongotrareo ny kiraronareo; aza misaona na mitomany ianareo; fa ho levona noho ny helokareo ianareo ka hifampitoloko."
24. Thus Ezekiel is unto you a sign: according to all that he hath done shall ye do: and when this cometh, ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.
24. Vous ferez entièrement comme il a fait. Et quand ces choses arriveront, vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur, l`Éternel.
24. "Ary Ezekiela dia ho famantarana ho anareo; koa araka izay rehetra nataony no mba hataonareo; ary rehefa tonga izany, dia ho fantatrareo fa Izaho no Jehovah Andriamanitra."
25. Also, thou son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their minds, their sons and their daughters,
25. Et toi, fils de l`homme, le jour où je leur enlèverai ce qui fait leur force, leur joie et leur gloire, les délices de leurs yeux et l`objet de leur amour, leurs fils et leurs filles,
25. Ary ianao, ry zanak' olona, amin' ny andro hanesorako aminy ny heriny sy ny fifalian' ny voninahiny, ilay tian' ny masony sy ilay tian' ny fanahiny, dia ny zanany lahy sy zanany vavy,
26. That he that escapeth in that day shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears?
26. ce jour-là un fuyard viendra vers toi pour l`annoncer à tes oreilles.
26. "Eny, amin' izany andro izany dia hisy olona handositra ho tonga any aminao mba hampandre ny sofinao izany;"
27. In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: and thou shalt be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
27. "En ce jour, ta bouche s`ouvrira avec le fuyard, et tu parleras, tu ne seras plus muet; tu seras pour eux un signe, et ils sauront que je suis l`Éternel."
27. "Amin' izany andro izany dia hisokatra amin' ilay mandositra ny vavanao, ka dia hiteny ianao, fa tsy ho moana intsony; ary ho famantarana aminy ianao; ka dia ho fantany fa Izaho no Jehovah."
