Boaz Marries Ruth
1. Then went Boaz up to the gate, and sat him down there: and, behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spake came by; unto whom he said, Ho, such a one! turn aside, sit down here. And he turned aside, and sat down.
1. Boaz monta à la porte, et s`y arrêta. Or voici, celui qui avait droit de rachat, et dont Boaz avait parlé, vint à passer. Boaz lui dit: Approche, reste ici, toi un tel. Et il s`approcha, et s`arrêta.
1. "Ary dia niakatra ho eo am-bavahady Boaza ka nipetraka teo, dia, indro, nandalo ilay havana mahavotra voalazany, dia hoy Boaza: Ranona iry ô! maitia kely ange; mipetraha eto. Dia nanatona izy ka nipetraka."
2. And he took ten men of the elders of the city, and said, Sit ye down here. And they sat down.
2. Boaz prit alors dix hommes parmi les anciens de la ville, et il dit: Asseyez-vous ici. Et ils s`assirent.

3. And he said unto the kinsman, Naomi, that is come again out of the country of Moab, selleth a parcel of land, which was our brother Elimelech's:
3. Puis il dit à celui qui avait le droit de rachat: Naomi, revenue du pays de Moab, a vendu la pièce de terre qui appartenait à notre frère Élimélec.

4. And I thought to advertise thee, saying, Buy it before the inhabitants, and before the elders of my people. If thou wilt redeem it, redeem it: but if thou wilt not redeem it, then tell me, that I may know: for there is none to redeem it beside thee; and I am after thee. And he said, I will redeem it.
4. "J`ai cru devoir t`en informer, et te dire: Acquiers-la, en présence des habitants et en présence des anciens de mon peuple. Si tu veux racheter, rachète; mais si tu ne veux pas, déclare-le-moi, afin que je le sache. Car il n`y a personne avant toi qui ait le droit de rachat, et je l`ai après toi. Et il répondit: je rachèterai."
4. "Ary nikasa hampandre anao aho hoe: Vidio eto anatrehan' izay mipetraka eto sy eto anatrehan' ny loholona amin' ny fireneko izany. 5. Then said Boaz, What day thou buyest the field of the hand of Naomi, thou must buy it also of Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of the dead, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance.
5. Boaz dit: Le jour où tu acquerras le champ de la main de Naomi, tu l`acquerras en même temps de Ruth la Moabite, femme du défunt, pour relever le nom du défunt dans son héritage.

6. And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance: redeem thou my right to thyself; for I cannot redeem it.
6. "Et celui qui avait le droit de rachat répondit: Je ne puis pas racheter pour mon compte, crainte de détruire mon héritage; prends pour toi mon droit de rachat, car je ne puis pas racheter."

7. Now this was the manner in former time in Israel concerning redeeming and concerning changing, for to confirm all things; a man plucked off his shoe, and gave it to his neighbour: and this was a testimony in Israel.
7. Autrefois en Israël, pour valider une affaire quelconque relative à un rachat ou à un échange, l`un ôtait son soulier et le donnait à l`autre: cela servait de témoignage en Israël.

8. Therefore the kinsman said unto Boaz, Buy it for thee. So he drew off his shoe.
8. Celui qui avait le droit de rachat dit donc à Boaz: Acquiers pour ton compte! Et il ôta son soulier.

9. And Boaz said unto the elders, and unto all the people, Ye are witnesses this day, that I have bought all that was Elimelech's, and all that was Chilion's and Mahlon's, of the hand of Naomi.
9. Alors Boaz dit aux anciens et à tout le peuple: Vous êtes témoins aujourd`hui que j`ai acquis de la main de Naomi tout ce qui appartenait à Élimélec, à Kiljon et à Machlon,
9. Ary hoy Boaza tamin' ny loholona sy tamin' ny vahoaka rehetra: Ianareo no vavolombelona androany fa efa novidiko tamin' i Naomy izay rehetra an' i Elimeleka sy izay rehetra an' i Kiliona sy Malona.
10. Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.
10. et que je me suis également acquis pour femme Ruth la Moabite, femme de Machlon, pour relever le nom du défunt dans son héritage, et afin que le nom du défunt ne soit point retranché d`entre ses frères et de la porte de son lieu. Vous en êtes témoins aujourd`hui!
10. "Ary Rota koa, vehivavy Moabita, vadin' i Malona, dia lasako ho vadiko hamelo-maso ny anaran' ny maty ao amin' ny lovany, mba tsy ho faty maso ny anaran' ny maty eo amin' ny rahalahiny sy eo amin' ny vavahadin' ny fonenany; ianareo no vavolombelona androany."
11. And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The LORD make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem:
11. Tout le peuple qui était à la porte et les anciens dirent: Nous en sommes témoins! Que l`Éternel rende la femme qui entre dans ta maison semblable à Rachel et à Léa, qui toutes les deux ont bâti la maison d`Israël! Manifeste ta force dans Éphrata, et fais-toi un nom dans Bethléhem!
11. "Dia hoy ny vahoaka rehetra izay teo amin' ny vavahady sy ny loholona: Vavolombelona izahay. Hataon' i Jehovah tahaka an' i Rahely sy tahaka an' i Lea anie izay vehivavy ho tonga ao an-tranonao; fa izy roa no nanangana ny tranon' ny Isiraely; ary aoka ho lehibe any Efrata anie ianao, ary halaza any Betlehema."
12. And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which the LORD shall give thee of this young woman.

13. So Boaz took Ruth, and she was his wife: and when he went in unto her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bare a son.
13. Boaz prit Ruth, qui devint sa femme, et il alla vers elle. L`Éternel permit à Ruth de concevoir, et elle enfanta un fils.

14. And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the LORD, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.
14. Les femmes dirent à Naomi: Béni soit l`Éternel, qui ne t`a point laissé manquer aujourd`hui d`un homme ayant droit de rachat, et dont le nom sera célébré en Israël!
14. Ary hoy ireo vehivavy tamin' i Naomy: Isaorana anie Jehovah, Izay tsy namela anao androany tsy hanan-kavana mahavotra, ary aoka halaza ny anarany eo amin' ny Isiraely.
15. And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life, and a nourisher of thine old age: for thy daughter in law, which loveth thee, which is better to thee than seven sons, hath born him.
15. "Cet enfant restaurera ton âme, et sera le soutien de ta vieillesse; car ta belle-fille, qui t`aime, l`a enfanté, elle qui vaut mieux pour toi que sept fils."
15. "Dia hamelona ny ainao sy hitaiza anao izy, rehefa antitra ianao; fa niteraka azy ny vinantonao vavy, izay tia anao, ilay tsara lavitra aminao mihoatra noho ny zanaka fito lahy."
16. And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.
16. Naomi prit l`enfant et le mit sur son sein, et elle fut sa garde.
16. Dia nandray ny zaza Naomy ka nitrotro azy, dia tonga mpitaiza azy.
17. And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.
17. Les voisines lui donnèrent un nom, en disant: Un fils est né à Naomi! Et elles l`appelèrent Obed. Ce fut le père d`Isaï père de David.
17. "Ary ny vehivavy namany nifidy ny anarany ka nanao hoe: Misy zazalahy teraka ho an' i Naomy; ary ny anarany nataony hoe Obeda; izy no rain' i Jese, rain' i Davida."
18. Now these are the generations of Pharez: Pharez begat Hezron,

20. And Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon,

21. And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,

21. "Ary Salmona niteraka an' i Boaza; Ary Boaza niteraka an' i Obeda;"
22. And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.
22. "Obed engendra Isaï; et Isaï engendra David."
