The Servant of the LORD
1. Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.

2. And he hath made my mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of his hand hath he hid me, and made me a polished shaft; in his quiver hath he hid me;
2. "Il a rendu ma bouche semblable à un glaive tranchant, Il m`a couvert de l`ombre de sa main; Il a fait de moi une flèche aiguë, Il m`a caché dans son carquois."

3. And said unto me, Thou art my servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.

4. Then I said, I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely my judgment is with the LORD, and my work with my God.
4. "Et moi j`ai dit: C`est en vain que j`ai travaillé, C`est pour le vide et le néant que j`ai consumé ma force; Mais mon droit est auprès de l`Éternel, Et ma récompense auprès de mon Dieu."

5. And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.
5. "Maintenant, l`Éternel parle, Lui qui m`a formé dès ma naissance Pour être son serviteur, Pour ramener à lui Jacob, Et Israël encore dispersé; Car je suis honoré aux yeux de l`Éternel, Et mon Dieu est ma force."
5. "Ary ankehitriny, hoy Jehovah, Izay namorona Ahy hatrany am-bohoka ho mpanompony, mba hampody an' i Jakoba ho ao aminy indray; na dia tsy voangona aza Isiraely, dia hahazo voninahitra eo imason' i Jehovah Aho, ary Andriamanitro no ho heriko."
6. And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.

7. Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee.
7. Ainsi parle l`Éternel, le rédempteur, le Saint d`Israël, A celui qu`on méprise, qui est en horreur au peuple, A l`esclave des puissants: Des rois le verront, et ils se lèveront, Des princes, et ils se prosterneront, A cause de l`Éternel, qui est fidèle, Du Saint d`Israël, qui t`a choisi.
7. Izao no lazain' i Jehovah, Mpanavotra ny Isiraely, dia ny Iray Masina, amin' Ilay hamavoin' ny olona sy halan' ny firenena ka tonga mpanompon' ny mpanapaka: Ny mpanjaka hahita ka hitsangana, ary ny mpanapaka koa, ka dia hiankohoka noho ny amin' i Jehovah, Izay mahatoky, dia ny Iray Masin' ny Isiraely, Izay hifidy Anao.
Restoration of Israel
8. Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;
8. "Ainsi parle l`Éternel: Au temps de la grâce je t`exaucerai, Et au jour du salut je te secourrai; Je te garderai, et je t`établirai pour traiter alliance avec le peuple, Pour relever le pays, Et pour distribuer les héritages désolés;"
8. "Izao no lazain' i Jehovah: Tamin' ny fotoana fankasitrahana no nihainoako Anao, ary tamin' ny andro famonjena no namonjeko anao; dia hiaro Anao Aho ka hanome Anao ho fanekena ho an' ny olona, mba hanangana ny tany sy hampadova ny lova izay efa rava;"
9. That thou mayest say to the prisoners, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Shew yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places.
9. Pour dire aux captifs: Sortez! Et à ceux qui sont dans les ténèbres: Paraissez! Ils paîtront sur les chemins, Et ils trouveront des pâturages sur tous les coteaux.
9. "Ka hanao amin' ny mpifatotra ianao hoe: Mivoaha, ary amin' izay ao amin' ny maizina hoe: Misehoa; hihinana eny an-dalana izy, ary ho any amin' ny fitoerana avo rehetra ny ahitra ho azy."
10. They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them.
10. "Ils n`auront pas faim et ils n`auront pas soif; Le mirage et le soleil ne les feront point souffrir; Car celui qui a pitié d`eux sera leur guide, Et il les conduira vers des sources d`eaux."
10. "Tsy ho noana na hangetaheta izy, ary tsy hamely azy ny hainandro migaingaina, na ny masoandro; fa Izay mamindra fo aminy no hitarika azy, ary any amin' ny loharano miboiboika no hitondrany azy."
11. And I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be exalted.
11. Je changerai toutes mes montagnes en chemins, Et mes routes seront frayées.

12. Behold, these shall come from far: and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.
12. Les voici, ils viennent de loin, Les uns du septentrion et de l`occident, Les autres du pays de Sinim.
12. "Indreo, tonga avy lavitra ireto; ary,indreo,avy any avaratra sy andrefana ireto, ary avy any amin' ny tany Sinima ireto."
13. Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the LORD hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted.
13. Cieux, réjouissez-vous! Terre, sois dans l`allégresse! Montagnes, éclatez en cris de joie! Car l`Éternel console son peuple, Il a pitié de ses malheureux.
13. "Mihirà, ry lanitra; ary mifalia, ry tany! ka velomy ny hoby, ry tendrombohitra; fa Jehovah efa nampionona ny olony sy hamindra fo amin' ny olony ory."
14. But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me.
14. Sion disait: L`Éternel m`abandonne, Le Seigneur m`oublie! -
14. Fa hoy Ziona: Jehovah efa nahafoy ahy,ary ny Tompo efa nanadino ahy.
15. Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.
15. Une femme oublie-t-elle l`enfant qu`elle allaite? N`a-t-elle pas pitié du fruit de ses entrailles? Quand elle l`oublierait, Moi je ne t`oublierai point.
15. Mety manadino ny zanany minono va ny vehivavy, ka tsy hamindra fo amin' ny zanaka naloaky ny kibony? Eny, mety manadino izy, fa Izaho kosa tsy mba hanadino anao.
16. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.
16. "Voici, je t`ai gravée sur mes mains; Tes murs sont toujours devant mes yeux."
16. Indro, efa vitako tombokavatsa eo am-pelatanako ianao, ary ny mandanao dia eo anatrehako mandrakariva.
17. Thy children shall make haste; thy destroyers and they that made thee waste shall go forth of thee.
17. "Tes fils accourent; Ceux qui t`avaient détruite et ravagée Sortiront du milieu de toi."

18. Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and come to thee. As I live, saith the LORD, thou shalt surely clothe thee with them all, as with an ornament, and bind them on thee, as a bride doeth.
18. Porte tes yeux alentour, et regarde: Tous ils s`assemblent, ils viennent vers toi. Je suis vivant! dit l`Éternel, Tu les revêtiras tous comme une parure, Tu t`en ceindras comme une fiancée.
18. "Atopazy manodidina ny masonao, ka mijere: Ireo rehetra ireo dia mivory ka mankeo aminao; raha velona koa aho, hoy Jehovah, ireo rehetra ireo dia hihaingoanao tokoa tahaka ny firavaka sy hiravahanao tahaka ny fanaon' ny ampakarina."
19. For thy waste and thy desolate places, and the land of thy destruction, shall even now be too narrow by reason of the inhabitants, and they that swallowed thee up shall be far away.
19. "Dans tes places ravagées et désertes, Dans ton pays ruiné, Tes habitants seront désormais à l`étroit; Et ceux qui te dévoraient s`éloigneront."
19. Fa ny taninao rava sy ny fonenanao lao ary ny taninao simba, dia tsy ho omby amin' izany noho ny habetsahan' ny mponina, ary ho lasa lavitra ireo nihinana anao.
20. The children which thou shalt have, after thou hast lost the other, shall say again in thine ears, The place is too strait for me: give place to me that I may dwell.
20. "Ils répéteront à tes oreilles, Ces fils dont tu fus privée: L`espace est trop étroit pour moi; Fais-moi de la place, pour que je puisse m`établir."

21. Then shalt thou say in thine heart, Who hath begotten me these, seeing I have lost my children, and am desolate, a captive, and removing to and fro? and who hath brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; these, where had they been?
21. Et tu diras en ton coeur: Qui me les a engendrés? Car j`étais sans enfants, j`étais stérile. J`étais exilée, répudiée: qui les a élevés? J`étais restée seule: ceux-ci, où étaient-ils?
21. Dia hanao anakampo ianao hoe: Iza no niteraka ireto ho ahy? Fa efa maty ny zanako, ary nitsaha-jaza aho. Babo aho sady noroahina, koa iza no namelona ireto? Indro, nilaozana ho irery aho, fa taiza kosa moa ireto?
22. Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.
22. "Ainsi a parlé le Seigneur, l`Éternel: Voici: Je lèverai ma main vers les nations, Je dresserai ma bannière vers les peuples; Et ils ramèneront tes fils entre leurs bras, Ils porteront tes filles sur les épaules."
22. "Izao no lazain' i Jehovah Tompo: Indro, hanandratra ny tanako amin' ny jentilisa aho, ary hanangana ny fanevako amin' ny firenena; dia hitrotro ny zanakao eo an-tratrany ireo, ary ny zanakao vavy hoentiny eny an-tsorony."
23. And kings shall be thy nursing fathers, and their queens thy nursing mothers: they shall bow down to thee with their face toward the earth, and lick up the dust of thy feet; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD: for they shall not be ashamed that wait for me.
23. "Des rois seront tes nourriciers, et leurs princesses tes nourrices; Ils se prosterneront devant toi la face contre terre, Et ils lécheront la poussière de tes pieds, Et tu sauras que je suis l`Éternel, Et que ceux qui espèrent en moi ne seront point confus."
23. "Mpanjaka no ho rainao mpitaiza anao, ary zanakavavin' andriana no ho reninao mpampinono anao; hiankohoka amin' ny tany eo anatrehanao izy ka hilelaka ny vovoka amin' ny tongotrao; dia ho fantatrao fa Izaho no Jehovah, ka tsy ho menatra izay miandry Ahy."
24. Shall the prey be taken from the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?
24. Le butin du puissant lui sera-t-il enlevé? Et la capture faite sur le juste échappera-t-elle? -
24. Azo alaina eny amin' ny mahery va ny sambotra? Na ho afaka va ny babo marina?
25. But thus saith the LORD, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.
25. "Oui, dit l`Éternel, la capture du puissant lui sera enlevée, Et le butin du tyran lui échappera; Je combattrai tes ennemis, Et je sauverai tes fils."
25. "Nefa izao no lazain' i Jehovah: Na dia ny sambotry ny mahery aza dia halaina ihany, ary ho afaka ny babon' ny mpandroba; fa Izaho no hiady amin' izay miady aminao, ary Izaho no hamonjy ny zanakao."
26. And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob.
26. "Je ferai manger à tes oppresseurs leur propre chair; Ils s`enivreront de leur sang comme du moût; Et toute chair saura que je suis l`Éternel, ton sauveur, Ton rédempteur, le puissant de Jacob."
