Abraham and Abimelech
1. And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar.
1. "Abraham partit de là pour la contrée du midi; il s`établit entre Kadès et Schur, et fit un séjour à Guérar."
1. Ary nandeha niala tao Abrahama ho any amin' ny tany atsimo, ka nitoetra teo anelanelan' i Kadesy sy Sora, ary nivahiny tany Gerara.
2. And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.
2. Abraham disait de Sara, sa femme: C`est ma soeur. Abimélec, roi de Guérar, fit enlever Sara.
2. "Ary hoy ny filàzan' i Abrahama an' i Saraha vadiny: Anabaviko izy; ary naniraka haka an' i Saraha i Abimeleka mpanjakan' i Gerara."
3. But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man's wife.
3. Alors Dieu apparut en songe à Abimélec pendant la nuit, et lui dit: Voici, tu vas mourir à cause de la femme que tu as enlevée, car elle a un mari.
3. "Fa nankeo amin' i Abimeleka tamin' ny nofy nony alina Andriamanitra, ka nanao taminy hoe: Indro, ho faty ianao noho ny vehivavy izay efa nalainao; fa vadin' olona izy."
4. But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, LORD, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?
4. Abimélec, qui ne s`était point approché d`elle, répondit: Seigneur, ferais-tu périr même une nation juste?
4. Fa Abimeleka anefa tsy mbola nanakaiky azy, ka hoy izy: Tompo ô, hovonoinao koa va izay firenena marina?
5. Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.
5. Ne m`a-t-il pas dit: C`est ma soeur? et elle-même n`a-t-elle pas dit: C`est mon frère? J`ai agi avec un coeur pur et avec des mains innocentes.
5. "Tsy ralehilahy va no nilaza tamiko hoe: Anabaviko izy? Ary ravehivavy tenany ihany no nanao hoe: Anadahiko izy; tamin' ny fahitsian' ny foko sy ny tsy fananan' ny tanako tsiny no nanaovako izany."
6. And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.
6. "Dieu lui dit en songe: Je sais que tu as agi avec un coeur pur; aussi t`ai-je empêché de pécher contre moi. C`est pourquoi je n`ai pas permis que tu la touchasse."
6. "Ary hoy Andriamanitra taminy tamin' ny nofy: Eny, fantatro fa tamin' ny fahitsian' ny fonao no nanaovanao izany;fa niaro anao tsy hanota amiko koa Aho, noho izany no tsy namelako anao hanendry azy."
7. Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.
7. "Maintenant, rends la femme de cet homme; car il est prophète, il priera pour toi, et tu vivras. Mais, si tu ne la rends pas, sache que tu mourras, toi et tout ce qui t`appartient."
7. "Ary ankehitriny avereno amin-dralehilahy ny vadiny; fa mpaminany izy ka hivavaka ho anao, dia ho velona ianao; fa raha tsy averinao izy, aoka ho fantatrao fa ho faty tokoa ianao, dia ianao mbamin' izay rehetra anao."
8. Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid.
8. "Abimélec se leva de bon matin, il appela tous ses serviteurs, et leur rapporta toutes ces choses; et ces gens furent saisis d`une grande frayeur."
8. "Noho izany, dia nifoha maraina koa Abimeleka ka niantso ny mpanompony rehetra ary nanambara izany zavatra rehetra izany ho ren' ny sofiny; ka dia natahotra indrindra ny olona."
9. Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.
9. Abimélec appela aussi Abraham, et lui dit: Qu`est-ce que tu nous as fait? Et en quoi t`ai-je offensé, que tu aies fait venir sur moi et sur mon royaume un si grand péché? Tu as commis à mon égard des actes qui ne doivent pas se commettre.
9. Ary niantso an' i Abrahama i Abimeleka ka nanao taminy hoe: Inona no nataonao taminay? Ary inona no nahadiso ahy taminao no dia nahatonga ota lehibe tamiko sy tamin' ny fanjakako ianao? Efa nanao zavatra izay tsy tokony ho natao tamiko ianao.
10. And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing?
10. Et Abimélec dit à Abraham: Quelle intention avais-tu pour agir de la sorte?
10. Ary hoy Abimeleka tamin' i Abrahama: Inona no hitanao, no nanao izao zavatra izao ianao?
11. And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife's sake.
11. Abraham répondit: Je me disais qu`il n`y avait sans doute aucune crainte de Dieu dans ce pays, et que l`on me tuerait à cause de ma femme.
11. Dia hoy Abrahama: Satria noheveriko fa tsy misy fahatahorana an' Andriamanitra mihitsy eto amin' ity tany ity: ka hovonoin' ny olona aho noho ny amin' ny vadiko.
12. And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.
12. "De plus, il est vrai qu`elle est ma soeur, fille de mon père; seulement, elle n`est pas fille de ma mère; et elle est devenue ma femme."
12. "Ary anabaviko ihany tokoa izy; zanakavavin' ny raiko izy fa tsy zanakavavin' ny reniko ka tonga vadiko izy."
13. And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother.
13. "Lorsque Dieu me fit errer loin de la maison de mon père, je dis à Sara: Voici la grâce que tu me feras; dans tous les lieux où nous irons, dis de moi: C`est mon frère."
13. Ary izao no niseho, rehefa nampirenireny ahy hiala tamin' ny tranon' ny raiko Andriamanitra, dia hoy aho taminy: Izao no soa hasehonao ahy: any amin' ny toerana rehetra halehantsika dia lazao aho hoe: Anadahiko izy.
14. And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife.
14. "Abimélec prit des brebis et des boeufs, des serviteurs et des servantes, et les donna à Abraham; et il lui rendit Sara, sa femme."
14. Ary naka ondry sy omby, sy mpanompolahy ary mpanompovavy Abimeleka, ka nanome ireny ho an' i Abrahama, sady naveriny taminy Saraha vadiny.
15. And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee.
15. "Abimélec dit: Voici, mon pays est devant toi; demeure où il te plaira."
15. Ary hoy Abimeleka: Indro eo anoloanao ny taniko: monena eo amin' izay tianao.
16. And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee, and with all other: thus she was reproved.
16. "Et il dit à Sara: Voici, je donne à ton frère mille pièces d`argent; cela te sera un voile sur les yeux pour tous ceux qui sont avec toi, et auprès de tous tu seras justifiée."
16. "Ary hoy izy tamin' i Saraha: Indro, efa nomeko sekely volafotsy arivo ny anadahinao. Indro, fanampena-maso ho anao izy, dia amin' izay rehetra momba anao sy ny hafa rehetra; dia voanatra toy izany ravehivavy."
17. So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.
17. "Abraham pria Dieu, et Dieu guérit Abimélec, sa femme et ses servantes; et elles purent enfanter."
17. "Koa nivavaka tamin' Andriamanitra Abrahama; ary nahasitrana an' i Abimeleka sy ny vadiny mbamin' ny mpanompovaviny Andriamanitra ka dia niteraka ireo."
18. For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham's wife.
18. Car l`Éternel avait frappé de stérilité toute la maison d`Abimélec, à cause de Sara, femme d`Abraham.
18. Fa efa nahamomba ny kibon' ny ankohonan' i Abimeleka rehetra Andriamanitra noho ny amin' i Saraha vadin' i Abrahama.
