The Tower of Babel
1. And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
1. Toute la terre avait une seule langue et les mêmes mots.

2. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
2. Comme ils étaient partis de l`orient, ils trouvèrent une plaine au pays de Schinear, et ils y habitèrent.

3. And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
3. Ils se dirent l`un à l`autre: Allons! faisons des briques, et cuisons-les au feu. Et la brique leur servit de pierre, et le bitume leur servit de ciment.
3. Ary nifampiresaka izy ireo hoe: Andeha hanao biriky isika ka handotra azy tsara. Ary ny biriky nataony solom-bato, ary ny asfalta nataony solon-drihitra
4. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
4. Ils dirent encore: Allons! bâtissons-nous une ville et une tour dont le sommet touche au ciel, et faisons-nous un nom, afin que nous ne soyons pas dispersés sur la face de toute la terre.
4. "Ary hoy ireo: Andeha isika hanorina tanàna sy tilikambo ho antsika, ka ny tampony hahatakatra ny lanitra; ary aoka isika hanao izay hahazoantsika laza, fandrao hiely eny ambonin' ny tany rehetra isika."
5. And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
5. L`Éternel descendit pour voir la ville et la tour que bâtissaient les fils des hommes.
5. Ary nidina Jehovah hizaha ny tanàna sy ny tilikambo, izay efa naorin' ny zanak' olombelona.
6. And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
6. "Et l`Éternel dit: Voici, ils forment un seul peuple et ont tous une même langue, et c`est là ce qu`ils ont entrepris; maintenant rien ne les empêcherait de faire tout ce qu`ils auraient projeté."
6. "Ary hoy Jehovah: indro, iray foko ny olona, sady iray ny fomba fitenenan' izy rehetra; ka ity no fiandohan' ny ataony, ary izao dia tsy hisy hahasakana azy ireo tsy hanao izay efa nosaintsaininy."
7. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.
7. Allons! descendons, et là confondons leur langage, afin qu`ils n`entendent plus la langue, les uns des autres.
7. Andeha isika hidina, ka eny no hanorokoroantsika ny fomba fiteniny, mba tsy hifankalala teny izy ireo.
8. So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
8. "Et l`Éternel les dispersa loin de là sur la face de toute la terre; et ils cessèrent de bâtir la ville."
8. "Koa naelin' i Jehovah teny ambonin' ny tany rehetra izy hatramin' izay; ary dia nilaozany ny fanorenana ny tanàna."
9. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
9. C`est pourquoi on l`appela du nom de Babel, car c`est là que l`Éternel confondit le langage de toute la terre, et c`est de là que l`Éternel les dispersa sur la face de toute la terre.
9. "Noho izany no nanaovana ny anarany hoe: Babela; fa tao no nanorokoroan' i Jehovah ny fitenin' ny tany rehetra; ary hatramin' izay no nampielezan' i Jehovah azy ireo ho eny ambonin' ny tany rehetra."
From Shem to Abram
10. These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:
10. Voici la postérité de Sem. Sem, âgé de cent ans, engendra Arpacschad, deux ans après le déluge.
10. Izao no taranak' i Sema: Rehefa zato taona Sema, dia niteraka an' i Arpaksada izy, roa taona taorian' ny safodrano.
11. And Shem lived after he begat Arphaxad five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.
11. "Sem vécut, après la naissance d`Arpacschad, cinq cents ans; et il engendra des fils et des filles."
11. "Ary ny andro niainan' i Sema taorian' ny niterahany an' i Arpaksada dia dimanjato taona; ary niteraka zazalahy sy zazavavy maro izy."
12. And Arphaxad lived five and thirty years, and begat Salah:
12. Arpacschad, âgé de trente-cinq ans, engendra Schélach.

13. And Arphaxad lived after he begat Salah four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.
13. "Arpacschad vécut, après la naissance de Schélach, quatre cent trois ans; et il engendra des fils et des filles."

14. And Salah lived thirty years, and begat Eber:
14. Schélach, âgé de trente ans, engendra Héber.
14. Ary telopolo taona ny andro niainan' i Sela, dia niteraka an' i Ebera izy.
15. And Salah lived after he begat Eber four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.
15. "Schélach vécut, après la naissance d`Héber, quatre cent trois ans; et il engendra des fils et des filles."

16. And Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat Peleg:
16. Héber, âgé de trente-quatre ans, engendra Péleg.
16. Ary efatra amby telopolo taona ny andro niainan' i Ebera, dia niteraka an' i Palega izy.
17. And Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters.
17. "Héber vécut, après la naissance de Péleg, quatre cent trente ans; et il engendra des fils et des filles."
17. "Ary ny andro niainan' i Ebera taorian' ny niterahany an' i Palega dia telopolo amby efajato taona; ary niteraka zazalahy sy zazavavy maro izy."
18. And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu:
18. Péleg, âgé de trente ans, engendra Rehu.
18. Ary telopolo taona ny andro niainan' i Palega, dia niteraka an-dReo izy.
19. And Peleg lived after he begat Reu two hundred and nine years, and begat sons and daughters.
19. "Péleg vécut, après la naissance de Rehu, deux cent neuf ans; et il engendra des fils et des filles."
19. "Ary ny andro niainan' i Palega taorian' ny niterahany an-dReo dia sivy amby roanjato taona; ary niteraka zazalahy sy zazavavy maro izy."
20. And Reu lived two and thirty years, and begat Serug:
20. Rehu, âgé de trente-deux ans, engendra Serug.
20. Ary roa amby telopolo taona ny andro niainan-dReo, dia niteraka an' i Seroga izy.
21. And Reu lived after he begat Serug two hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters.
21. "Rehu vécut, après la naissance de Serug, deux cent sept ans; et il engendra des fils et des filles."
21. "Ary ny andro niainan-dReo taorian' ny niterahany an' i Seroga dia fito amby roanjato taona; ary niteraka zazalahy sy zazavavy maro izy."
22. And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor:
22. Serug, âgé de trente ans, engendra Nachor.
22. Ary telopolo taona ny andro niainan' i Seroga, dia niteraka an' i Nahora izy.
23. And Serug lived after he begat Nahor two hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.
23. "Serug vécut, après la naissance de Nachor, deux cents ans; et il engendra des fils et des filles."
23. "Ary ny andro niainan' i Seroga taorian' ny niterahany an' i Nahora dia roanjato taona; ary niteraka zazalahy sy zazavavy maro izy."
24. And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Terah:
24. Nachor, âgé de vingt-neuf ans, engendra Térach.
24. Ary sivy amby roapolo taona ny andro niainan' i Nahora, dia niteraka an' i Tera izy.
25. And Nahor lived after he begat Terah an hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.
25. "Nachor vécut, après la naissance de Térach, cent dix-neuf ans; et il engendra des fils et des filles."
25. "Ary ny andro niainan' i Nahora taorian' ny niterahany an' i Tera dia sivy ambin' ny folo amby zato taona; ary niteraka zazalahy sy zazavavy maro izy."
26. And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
26. Térach, âgé de soixante-dix ans, engendra Abram, Nachor et Haran.
26. Ary fitopolo taona ny andro niainan' i Tera dia niteraka an' i Abrama sy Nahora ary Harana izy.
27. Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.
27. Voici la postérité de Térach. Térach engendra Abram, Nachor et Haran. -Haran engendra Lot.
27. "Ary izao no taranak' i Tera: Tera niteraka an' i Abrama sy Nahora ary Harana; ary Harana niteraka an' i Lota."
28. And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.
28. Et Haran mourut en présence de Térach, son père, au pays de sa naissance, à Ur en Chaldée. -
28. Ary maty teo anatrehan' i Tera rainy Harana, tany amin' ny tany nahaterahany, dia tao Oran' ny Kaldeana.
29. And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram's wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor's wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
29. Abram et Nachor prirent des femmes: le nom de la femme d`Abram était Saraï, et le nom de la femme de Nachor était Milca, fille d`Haran, père de Milca et père de Jisca.
29. "Ary Abrama sy Nahora dia samy naka vady ho azy: ny anaran' ny vadin' i Abrama dia Saray; ary ny anaran' ny vadin' i Nahora dia Milka, zanakavavin' i Harana, rain' i Milka sy rain' Iska."
30. But Sarai was barren; she had no child.
30. Saraï était stérile: elle n`avait point d`enfants.
30. "Ary momba Saray; tsy nanan-janaka izy."
31. And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.
31. Térach prit Abram, son fils, et Lot, fils d`Haran, fils de son fils, et Saraï, sa belle-fille, femme d`Abram, son fils. Ils sortirent ensemble d`Ur en Chaldée, pour aller au pays de Canaan. Ils vinrent jusqu`à Charan, et ils y habitèrent.
31. "Ary Tera nitondra an' i Abrama zanany sy Lota zafiny, zanak' i Harana, ary Saray vinantony vavy, vadin' i Abrama zanany; dia niaraka taminy ireo ka niala tao Oran' ny Kaldeana hankany amin' ny tany Kanana; dia tonga tao Harana izy ka nonina tao."
32. And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.
32. "Les jours de Térach furent de deux cent cinq ans; et Térach mourut à Charan."
32. "Ary dimy amby roanjato taona ny andro niainan' i Tera; dia maty tao Harana i Tera."
