Ezekiel a Watchman
1. Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
1. La parole de l`Éternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:
1. Ary tonga tamiko indray ny tenin' i Jehovah nanao hoe:
2. Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:
2. Fils de l`homme, parle aux enfants de ton peuple, et dis-leur: Lorsque je fais venir l`épée sur un pays, et que le peuple du pays prend dans son sein un homme et l`établit comme sentinelle, -
2. Ry zanak' olona, mitenena amin' ny zanaky ny firenenao ka lazao aminy hoe: raha mahatonga sabatra amin' ny tany anankiray Aho ary ny tompontany maka lehilahy anankiray ao aminy ka manendry azy ho mpitily,
3. If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people;
3. "si cet homme voit venir l`épée sur le pays, sonne de la trompette, et avertit le peuple;"
3. Ary raha hitan-dralehilahy fa, indro, avy ny sabatra, ka mitsoka ny anjomara hampitandrina ny olona izy,
4. Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.
4. et si celui qui entend le son de la trompette ne se laisse pas avertir, et que l`épée vienne le surprendre, son sang sera sur sa tête.
4. Nefa tsy mandray fampitandremana izay mandre ny feon' ny anjomara ary tonga ny sabatra ka mandripaka azy, dia ho eo an-dohany ihany ny rany.
5. He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.
5. "Il a entendu le son de la trompette, et il ne s`est pas laissé avertir, son sang sera sur lui; s`il se laisse avertir, il sauvera son âme."
5. "Nandre ny feon' ny anjomara izy nefa tsy nandray fampitandremana; ho ao aminy ihany ny rany; fa izay nandray ny fampitandremana no hamonjy ny fanahiny."
6. But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.
6. "Si la sentinelle voit venir l`épée, et ne sonne pas de la trompette; si le peuple n`est pas averti, et que l`épée vienne enlever à quelqu`un la vie, celui-ci périra à cause de son iniquité, mais je redemanderai son sang à la sentinelle."
6. "Fa raha hitan' ilay mpitily kosa fa, indro, avy ny sabatra, nefa tsy mitsoka ny anjomara izy, ka tsy notairina ny olona, ary tonga ny sabatra ka mandringana olona ao aminy, dia matin' ny helony ihany iny; nefa ny rany dia hadiniko amin' ny tanan' ilay mpitily."
7. So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.
7. Et toi, fils de l`homme, je t`ai établi comme sentinelle sur la maison d`Israël. Tu dois écouter la parole qui sort de ma bouche, et les avertir de ma part.
7. Koa ianao, ry zanak' olona, dia efa notendreko ho mpitily ho an' ny taranak' Isiraely, koa handre ny teny aloaky ny vavako ianao, dia izany no hoentinao mananatra azy.
8. When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
8. Quand je dis au méchant: Méchant, tu mourras! si tu ne parles pas pour détourner le méchant de sa voie, ce méchant mourra dans son iniquité, et je te redemanderai son sang.
8. Raha hoy Aho amin' ny ratsy fanahy: he! ry ilay ratsy fanahy, ho faty tokoa ianao! nefa tsy miteny mananatra ny ratsy fanahy ianao hiala amin' ny alehany, dia ho fatin' ny helony ihany izany ratsy fanahy izany fa ny rany dia hadiniko amin' ny tananao.
9. Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
9. Mais si tu avertis le méchant pour le détourner de sa voie, et qu`il ne s`en détourne pas, il mourra dans son iniquité, et toi tu sauveras ton âme.
9. "Fa raha mananatra ny ratsy fanahy ihany kosa ianao hiala amin' ny lalany ratsy; fa izy no tsy mety miala amin' ny lalany, dia ho fatin' ny helony ihany izy, nefa voavonjinao ny fanahinao."
10. Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel; Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins be upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live?
10. "Et toi, fils de l`homme, dis à la maison d`Israël: Vous dites: Nos transgressions et nos péchés sont sur nous, et c`est à cause d`eux que nous sommes frappés de langueur; comment pourrions-nous vivre?"
10. Ary ianao, ry zanak' olona, mitenena amin' ny taranak' Isiraely hoe: izao no fiteninareo: raha eto aminay ny fahadisoanay sy ny fahotanay ka mihalevona amin' izany izahay, dia ahoana no mahavelona anay?
11. Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
11. "Dis-leur: je suis vivant! dit le Seigneur, l`Éternel, ce que je désire, ce n`est pas que le méchant meure, c`est qu`il change de conduite et qu`il vive. Revenez, revenez de votre mauvaise voie; et pourquoi mourriez-vous, maison d`Israël?"
11. Lazao aminy hoe: raha velona koa Aho, hoy Jehovah Tompo, dia tsy sitrako ny hahafatesan' ny ratsy fanahy fa ny hialan' ny ratsy fanahy amin' ny lalany, mba ho velona izy. Mialà, mialà amin' ny lalan-dratsinareo, fa nahoana moa no te-ho faty ianareo, ry taranak' Isiraely?
12. Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth.
12. "Et toi, fils de l`homme, dis aux enfants de ton peuple: La justice du juste ne le sauvera pas au jour de sa transgression; et le méchant ne tombera pas par sa méchanceté le jour où il s`en détournera, de même que le juste ne pourra pas vivre par sa justice au jour de sa transgression."
12. "Koa ianao, ry zanak' olona, lazao amin' ny zanaky ny firenenao hoe: ny fahamarinan' ny marina tsy hahavonjy azy raha mby amin' ny andro ahadisoany; ary ny faharatsian' ny ratsy fanahy tsy hahalavo azy raha mby amin' ny andro ialany amin' ny faharatsiany; ny marina koa tsy ho velona noho ny fahamarinany raha mby amin' ny andro hanotany."
13. When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.
13. Lorsque je dis au juste qu`il vivra, -s`il se confie dans sa justice et commet l`iniquité, toute sa justice sera oubliée, et il mourra à cause de l`iniquité qu`il a commise.
13. Raha holazaiko amin' ny marina hoe: ho velona tokoa izy, nefa izy mitoky amin' ny fahamarinany manokana ka manao meloka, dia tsy hotsarovana ny fahamarinana rehetra izay nataony fa ny heloka nataony no hahafaty azy.
14. Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right;
14. Lorsque je dis au méchant: Tu mourras! -s`il revient de son péché et pratique la droiture et la justice,
14. Ary koa, raha hoy Aho kosa amin' ny ratsy fanahy: ho faty tokoa ianao, nefa miala amin' ny fahotany izy sady manao izay ara-dalàna sy mahitsy,
15. If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die.
15. s`il rend le gage, s`il restitue ce qu`il a ravi, s`il suit les préceptes qui donnent la vie, sans commettre l`iniquité, il vivra, il ne mourra pas.
15. Raha mamerina ny natao tsatòka ny ratsy fanahy sady mampody izay norobainy ary mandeha araka ny didy mahavelona, ka tsy manao heloka, dia ho velona tokoa izy fa tsy ho faty.
16. None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live.
16. "Tous les péchés qu`il a commis seront oubliés; il pratique la droiture et la justice, il vivra."
16. "Ny fahotana rehetra izay nataony dia tsy hotsarovana aminy intsony; manao izay ara-dalàna sy mahitsy izy, ka dia ho velona tokoa."
17. Yet the children of thy people say, The way of the Lord is not equal: but as for them, their way is not equal.
17. Les enfants de ton peuple disent: La voie du Seigneur n`est pas droite. C`est leur voie qui n`est pas droite.
17. "Kanefa hoy ny zanaky ny firenenao: tsy marina ny lalan' ny Tompo; nefa ny momba azy, ny lalany no tsy marina."
18. When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby.
18. Si le juste se détourne de sa justice et commet l`iniquité, il mourra à cause de cela.
18. Raha ny marina miala amin' ny fahamarinany ka manao heloka, dia ho faty amin' izany izy.
19. But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby.
19. Si le méchant revient de sa méchanceté et pratique la droiture et la justice, il vivra à cause de cela.
19. Fa raha ny ratsy fanahy miala amin' ny faharatsiany ka manao izay ara-dalàna sy mahitsy dia ho velona amin' izany izy.
20. Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O ye house of Israel, I will judge you every one after his ways.
20. Vous dites: La voie du Seigneur n`est pas droite. Je vous jugerai chacun selon ses voies, maison d`Israël!
20. Kanefa, hoy ianareo: tsy marina ny lalan' ny Tompo. He! ry taranak' Isiraely, samy hotsaraiko araka ny alehany avy ianareo.
Jerusalem's Fall Explained
21. And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, that one that had escaped out of Jerusalem came unto me, saying, The city is smitten.
21. La douzième année, le cinquième jour du dixième mois de notre captivité, un homme qui s`était échappé de Jérusalem vint à moi et dit: La ville a été prise!
21. Ary izao no niseho, tamin' ny andro fahadimy tamin' ny volana fahafolo tamin' ny taona faharoa ambin' ny folo taorian' ny namaboana antsika, dia nisy olona efa nandositra avy tany Jerosalema tonga tao amiko ka nanao hoe: afaka ny tanàna.
22. Now the hand of the LORD was upon me in the evening, afore he that was escaped came; and had opened my mouth, until he came to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was no more dumb.
22. La main de l`Éternel avait été sur moi le soir avant l`arrivée du fugitif, et l`Éternel m`avait ouvert la bouche lorsqu`il vint auprès de moi le matin. Ma bouche était ouverte, et je n`étais plus muet.
22. "Dia efa tonga tamiko ny tanan' i Jehovah tamin' ny omaly harivan' ny andro nahatongavan' ilay nandositra izay tonga tao amiko, ka nosokafany ny vavako mandra-pahatongan' ilay nandositra, izay tonga tao amiko nony maraina; dia efa nisokatra ny vavako ka tsy moana intsony aho."
23. Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
23. Alors la parole de l`Éternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:
23. Dia tonga tamiko ny tenin' i Jehovah nanao hoe:
24. Son of man, they that inhabit those wastes of the land of Israel speak, saying, Abraham was one, and he inherited the land: but we are many; the land is given us for inheritance.
24. "Fils de l`homme, ceux qui habitent ces ruines dans le pays d`Israël disent: Abraham était seul, et il a hérité le pays; à nous qui sommes nombreux, le pays est donné en possession."
24. "Ry zanak' olona, ny monina amin' ireny rava amin' ny tanin' ny Isiraely ireny dia manao hoe: Irery ihany Abrahama, nefa nandova ny tany izy; fa isika kosa dia maro ary omena antsika ny tany holovantsika."
25. Wherefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Ye eat with the blood, and lift up your eyes toward your idols, and shed blood: and shall ye possess the land?
25. C`est pourquoi dis-leur: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l`Éternel: Vous mangez vos aliments avec du sang, vous levez les yeux vers vos idoles, vous répandez le sang. Et vous posséderiez le pays!
25. Koa lazao aminy hoe: izao no lazain'i Jehovah Andriamanitra: Homan-javatra misy rà sady miandrandra ny sampinareo ianareo ary mandatsa-dra, moa hahazo handova ny tany va ianareo?
26. Ye stand upon your sword, ye work abomination, and ye defile every one his neighbour's wife: and shall ye possess the land?
26. Vous vous appuyez sur votre épée, vous commettez des abominations, chacun de vous déshonore la femme de son prochain. Et vous posséderiez le pays!
26. "Mitoky amin' ny sabatrareo ianareo sady manao fahavetavetana ka samy mandoto ny vadin' ny namany avy; koa hahazo handova ny tany va ianareo?"
27. Say thou thus unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely they that are in the wastes shall fall by the sword, and him that is in the open field will I give to the beasts to be devoured, and they that be in the forts and in the caves shall die of the pestilence.
27. "Dis-leur: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l`Éternel: Je suis vivant! Ceux qui sont parmi les ruines tomberont par l`épée; ceux qui sont dans les champs, j`en ferai la pâture des bêtes; et ceux qui sont dans les forts et dans les cavernes mourront par la peste."
27. Izao no holazainao aminy: izao no lazain' i Jehovah Andriamanitra: Raha velona koa Aho, dia tsy maintsy ho lavon' ny sabatra izay ao amin' ny tanàna rava ary izay any an-tsaha dia homeko ho rembin' ny biby dia, ary izay ao amin' ny fiarovana sy ny lava-tany dia ho fatin' ny areti-mandringana.
28. For I will lay the land most desolate, and the pomp of her strength shall cease; and the mountains of Israel shall be desolate, that none shall pass through.
28. "Je réduirai le pays en solitude et en désert; l`orgueil de sa force prendra fin, les montagnes d`Israël seront désolées, personne n`y passera."
28. "Fa hataoko rava sy lao ny tany, ary hitsahatra ny fiavonavonan' ny heriny; ary ho lao ny tendrombohitry ny Isiraely, ka tsy hisy mpandia azy."
29. Then shall they know that I am the LORD, when I have laid the land most desolate because of all their abominations which they have committed.
29. Et ils sauront que je suis l`Éternel, quand je réduirai le pays en solitude et en désert, à cause de toutes les abominations qu`ils ont commises.
29. Dia ho fantany fa Izaho no Jehovah, raha hataoko rava sy lao ny tany noho ny fahavetavetana rehetra nataony.
30. Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the LORD.
30. Et toi, fils de l`homme, les enfants de ton peuple s`entretiennent de toi près des murs et aux portes des maisons, et ils se disent l`un à l`autre, chacun à son frère: Venez donc, et écoutez quelle est la parole qui est procédée de l`Éternel!
30. Ary ianao, ry zanak' olona, ny zanaky ny firenenao dia mbola miresaka mamely anao eny am-bodirindrina sy eo am-baravaran' ny tranony, ka samy manao amin' ny rahalahiny hoe: masìna ianao, andeha hihaino izay teny avy amin' i Jehovah.
31. And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.
31. "Et ils se rendent en foule auprès de toi, et mon peuple s`assied devant toi; ils écoutent tes paroles, mais ils ne les mettent point en pratique, car leur bouche en fait un sujet de moquerie, et leur coeur se livre à la cupidité."
31. "Dia mankao aminao tahaka ny fiavin' ny olona izy ka mipetraka eo anatrehanao toa oloko ary mahare ny teninao, nefa tsy mety mankatò azy; fa maneho fitiavana be izy amin' ny vavany, nefa ny fony dia lasa amin' ny fieremana."
32. And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.
32. Voici, tu es pour eux comme un chanteur agréable, possédant une belle voix, et habile dans la musique. Ils écoutent tes paroles, mais ils ne les mettent point en pratique.
32. "Koa, indro, ianao dia ataony ho tahaka ny mpanao hira mahafinaritra, izay tsara feo sady mahay mitendry; fa mandre ny teninao izy nefa tsy mety mankatò azy."
33. And when this cometh to pass, (lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.
33. Quand ces choses arriveront, -et voici, elles arrivent! -ils sauront qu`il y avait un prophète au milieu d`eux.
33. Ary nony tanteraka izany (indro, efa ho tanteraka ihany), dia ho fantany fa efa nisy mpaminany tokoa tao aminy.
