Esther Made Queen
1. After these things, when the wrath of king Ahasuerus was appeased, he remembered Vashti, and what she had done, and what was decreed against her.
1. Après ces choses, lorsque la colère du roi Assuérus se fut calmée, il pensa à Vasthi, à ce qu`elle avait fait, et à la décision qui avait été prise à son sujet.

2. Then said the king's servants that ministered unto him, Let there be fair young virgins sought for the king:
2. "Alors ceux qui servaient le roi dirent: Qu`on cherche pour le roi des jeunes filles, vierges et belles de figure;"
2. "Ka dia hoy ny mpanompon' ny mpanjaka izay nanompo teo aminy: Aoka ny mpanjaka hitadiavana tanora virijina tsara tarehy;"
3. And let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather together all the fair young virgins unto Shushan the palace, to the house of the women, unto the custody of Hege the king's chamberlain, keeper of the women; and let their things for purification be given them:

"que le roi établisse dans toutes les provinces de son royaume des commissaires chargés de rassembler toutes les jeunes filles, vierges et belles de figure, à Suse, la capitale, dans la maison des femmes, sous la surveillance d`Hégué, eunuque du roi et gardien des femmes, qui leur donnera les choses nécessaires pour leur toilette;"
3. "Ary aoka ny mpanjaka hanendry mpanapaka amin' ny faritany rehetra amin' ny fanjakany, dia aoka hovorin' ireny ny tanora virijina tsara tarehy rehetra ho eto Sosana renivohitra misy ny lapa, ho eo amin' ny tranom-behivavy amin' ny fehin' i Hegay, tsindranolahin' ny mpanjaka mpifehy ny vehivavy; ary aoka homeny azy ireo ny zavatra fidiovany."
4. And let the maiden which pleaseth the king be queen instead of Vashti. And the thing pleased the king; and he did so.
4. et que la jeune fille qui plaira au roi devienne reine à la place de Vasthi. Cet avis eut l`approbation du roi, et il fit ainsi.

5. Now in Shushan the palace there was a certain Jew, whose name was Mordecai, the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite;
5. Il y avait dans Suse, la capitale, un Juif nommé Mardochée, fils de Jaïr, fils de Schimeï, fils de Kis, homme de Benjamin,
5. Ary nisy Jiosy anankiray tany Sosana, izay nisy ny lapa, Mordekay no anarany, zanak' i Jaïra, zanak' i Simey, zanak' i Kisy avy tamin' ny taranak' i Benjamina,
6. Who had been carried away from Jerusalem with the captivity which had been carried away with Jeconiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away.
6. qui avait été emmené de Jérusalem parmi les captifs déportés avec Jeconia, roi de Juda, par Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone.

7. And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle's daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the maid was fair and beautiful; whom Mordecai, when her father and mother were dead, took for his own daughter.
7. "Il élevait Hadassa, qui est Esther, fille de son oncle; car elle n`avait ni père ni mère. La jeune fille était belle de taille et belle de figure. A la mort de son père et de sa mère, Mardochée l`avait adoptée pour fille."
7. "Ary izy nitaiza an' i Hadasa (Estera izany), zanakavavin' ny rahalahin-drainy, fa tsy nanana ray na reny izy; ary razazavavy dia soa sady tsara tarehy, ary noraisin' i Mordekay ho zanany vavy izy, rehefa maty ny rainy sy ny reniny."
8. So it came to pass, when the king's commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together unto Shushan the palace, to the custody of Hegai, that Esther was brought also unto the king's house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.
8. Lorsqu`on eut publié l`ordre du roi et son édit, et qu`un grand nombre de jeunes filles furent rassemblées à Suse, la capitale, sous la surveillance d`Hégaï, Esther fut aussi prise et conduite dans la maison du roi, sous la surveillance d`Hégaï, gardien des femmes.
8. Koa izao no niseho, nony re ny didin' ny mpanjaka sy ny lalàny, ka voavory tany Sosana renivohitra ny zazavavy maro ho amin' ny fehin' i Hegay, dia mba nentina ho ao an-tranon' ny mpanjaka koa Estera ho amin' ny fehin' i Hegay, mpifehy ny vehivavy.
9. And the maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily gave her her things for purification, with such things as belonged to her, and seven maidens, which were meet to be given her, out of the king's house: and he preferred her and her maids unto the best place of the house of the women.
9. "La jeune fille lui plut, et trouva grâce devant lui; il s`empressa de lui fournir les choses nécessaires pour sa toilette et pour sa subsistance, lui donna sept jeunes filles choisies dans la maison du roi, et la plaça avec ses jeunes filles dans le meilleur appartement de la maison des femmes."
9. "Ary nahafaly azy razazavavy ka nahita fitia teo imasony; dia nomeny faingana an-drazazavavy ny zavatra fidiovany sy ny anjara-haniny ary ny ankizivavy fito izay voafantina homena azy avy tao an-tranon' ny mpanjaka; ary nafindrany ho ao amin' ny fitoerana tsara indrindra ao an-tranom-behivavy izy sy ny ankizivaviny."
10. Esther had not shewed her people nor her kindred: for Mordecai had charged her that she should not shew it.
10. Esther ne fit connaître ni son peuple ni sa naissance, car Mardochée lui avait défendu d`en parler.
10. Nefa Estera tsy mbola nilaza ny fireneny, na ny fianakaviany, satria nopeperan' i Mordekay mba tsy hilaza izany izy.
11. And Mordecai walked every day before the court of the women's house, to know how Esther did, and what should become of her.
11. Et chaque jour Mardochée allait et venait devant la cour de la maison des femmes, pour savoir comment se portait Esther et comment on la traitait.
11. Ary Mordekay nitsangantsangana isan' andro teo anoloan' ny kianjan' ny tranom-behivavy, mba hahafantarany izay toetran' i Estera sy izay anaovana azy.
12. Now when every maid's turn was come to go in to king Ahasuerus, after that she had been twelve months, according to the manner of the women, (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, to wit, six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odours, and with other things for the purifying of the women;)
12. "Chaque jeune fille allait à son tour vers le roi Assuérus, après avoir employé douze mois à s`acquitter de ce qui était prescrit aux femmes; pendant ce temps, elles prenaient soin de leur toilette, six mois avec de l`huile de myrrhe, et six mois avec des aromates et des parfums en usage parmi les femmes."
12. Ary nony tonga ny andro hidiran' ny zazavavy tsirairay isan' andro tany amin' i Ahasoerosy mpanjaka, rehefa tapitra taminy ny roa ambin' ny folo volana, araka ny fomba fanomanana ny vehivavy (fa tapitra tamin' izay ny andro fidiovany, dia enim-bolana tamin' ny diloilo nisy miora, ary enim-bolana tamin' ny zava-manitra sy ny zavatra sasany koa fidiovan' ny vehivavy),
13. Then thus came every maiden unto the king; whatsoever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the women unto the king's house.
13. "C`est ainsi que chaque jeune fille allait vers le roi; et, quand elle passait de la maison des femmes dans la maison du roi, on lui laissait prendre avec elle tout ce qu`elle voulait."
13. Koa nony hiditra ao amin' ny mpanjaka ny zazavavy tamin' izany dia nomena azy izay rehetra nilainy hoentiny avy amin' ny tranom-behivavy ho ao an-tranon' ny mpanjaka.
14. In the evening she went, and on the morrow she returned into the second house of the women, to the custody of Shaashgaz, the king's chamberlain, which kept the concubines: she came in unto the king no more, except the king delighted in her, and that she were called by name.
14. "Elle y allait le soir; et le lendemain matin elle passait dans la seconde maison des femmes, sous la surveillance de Schaaschgaz, eunuque du roi et gardien des concubines. Elle ne retournait plus vers le roi, à moins que le roi n`en eût le désir et qu`elle ne fût appelée par son nom."
14. "Tamin' ny hariva no nandeha izy, ary nony maraina dia niverina izy ho ao an-trano faharoa nitoeran' ny vehivavy, ho amin' ny fehin' i Sasegaza, tsindranolahin' ny mpanjaka, mpitandrina ny vadi-tsindrano; ary tsy mba niditra tao amin' ny mpanjaka intsony izy, raha tsy tian' ny mpanjaka, ka voatonona ny anarany."
15. Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king's chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her.
15. Lorsque son tour d`aller vers le roi fut arrivé, Esther, fille d`Abichaïl, oncle de Mardochée qui l`avait adoptée pour fille, ne demanda que ce qui fut désigné par Hégaï, eunuque du roi et gardien des femmes. Esther trouvait grâce aux yeux de tous ceux qui la voyaient.
15. Ary rehefa tonga ny anjara andron' i Estera, zanakavavin' i Abihaila, rahalahin-drain' i Mordekay, izay efa nandray azy ho zanany vavy, hidirany ao an-tranon' ny mpanjaka, dia tsy nila na inona na inona izy mihoatra noho izay notononin' i Hegay tsindranolahin' ny mpanjaka, mpitandrina ny vehivavy. Ary Estera nahita fitia teo imason' ny olona rehetra izay nijery azy.
16. So Esther was taken unto king Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.
16. Esther fut conduite auprès du roi Assuérus, dans sa maison royale, le dixième mois, qui est le mois de Tébeth, la septième année de son règne.
16. Dia nentina ho ao amin' ny Ahasoerosy mpanjaka i Estera, ho ao an-tranon' ny fanjakana, tamin' ny volana fahafolo (volana Tebeta izany) tamin' ny taona fahafito nanjakany.
17. And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.
17. Le roi aima Esther plus que toutes les autres femmes, et elle obtint grâce et faveur devant lui plus que toutes les autres jeunes filles. Il mit la couronne royale sur sa tête, et la fit reine à la place de Vasthi.
17. Ary tian' ny mpanjaka mihoatra noho ny vehivavy rehetra Estera, ka nahita fitia sy sitraka teo imasony mihoatra noho ny virijina rehetra izy, ka dia nosatrohana ny satroboninahitry ny fanjakana izy ka natao ho vadin' ny mpanjaka hisolo an' i Vasty.
18. Then the king made a great feast unto all his princes and his servants, even Esther's feast; and he made a release to the provinces, and gave gifts, according to the state of the king.
18. "Le roi donna un grand festin à tous ses princes et à ses serviteurs, un festin en l`honneur d`Esther; il accorda du repos aux provinces, et fit des présents avec une libéralité royale."
18. "Ary ny mpanjaka nanao fanasana lehibe ho an' ny mpanapaka rehetra sy ny mpanompony, dia fanasan' i Estera izany; ary nanendry andro fifaliana ho an' ny fanjakana rehetra isan-tokony izy sady nanome zavatra araka ny fanomen' ny mpanjaka."
Mordecai Uncovers a Conspiracy
19. And when the virgins were gathered together the second time, then Mordecai sat in the king's gate.
19. La seconde fois qu`on assembla les jeunes filles, Mardochée était assis à la porte du roi.
19. Ary raha novoriana fanindroany ny virijina, dia nipetraka teo am-bavahadin' ny mpanjaka i Mordekay.
20. Esther had not yet shewed her kindred nor her people; as Mordecai had charged her: for Esther did the commandment of Mordecai, like as when she was brought up with him.
20. Esther n`avait fait connaître ni sa naissance ni son peuple, car Mardochée le lui avait défendu, et elle suivait les ordres de Mardochée aussi fidèlement qu`à l`époque où elle était sous sa tutelle.
20. "Nefa Estera tsy mbola nilaza izay fianakaviany na izay fireneny, araka ilay nameperan' i Mordekay azy ihany; fa ny baikon' i Mordekay dia nankatoavin' i Estera tahaka ny fony izy mbola nitaiza azy ihany."
21. In those days, while Mordecai sat in the king's gate, two of the king's chamberlains, Bigthan and Teresh, of those which kept the door, were wroth, and sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus.
21. Dans ce même temps, comme Mardochée était assis à la porte du roi, Bigthan et Théresch, deux eunuques du roi, gardes du seuil, cédèrent à un mouvement d`irritation et voulurent porter la main sur le roi Assuérus.
21. Tamin' izany andro izany, raha Mordekay nipetraka teo am-bavahadin' ny mpanjaka, dia tezitra Bigtana sy Taresy, roa lahy isan' ny tsindranolahin' ny mpanjaka, dia ireo mpiambina teo am-bavaravarana, ka nitady hamono an' i Ahasoerosy mpanjaka izy.
22. And the thing was known to Mordecai, who told it unto Esther the queen; and Esther certified the king thereof in Mordecai's name.
22. Mardochée eut connaissance de la chose et en informa la reine Esther, qui la redit au roi de la part de Mardochée.
22. "Ary fantatr' i Mordekay izany zavatra izany ka nambarany tamin' i Estera, vadin' ny mpanjaka; ary Estera kosa nanamarina izany tamin' ny mpanjaka tamin' ny anaran' i Mordekay."
23. And when inquisition was made of the matter, it was found out; therefore they were both hanged on a tree: and it was written in the book of the chronicles before the king.
23. Le fait ayant été vérifié et trouvé exact, les deux eunuques furent pendus à un bois. Et cela fut écrit dans le livre des Chroniques en présence du roi.
23. "Ary rehefa nodinihina izany zavatra izany, dia, indro, fa marina; ka dia nahantona tamin' ny hazo izy roa lahy; ary nosoratana tao amin' ny bokin' ny tantara teo anatrehan' ny mpanjaka izany."
