Driving Out the Nations
1. When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;
1. "Lorsque l`Éternel, ton Dieu, t`aura fait entrer dans le pays dont tu vas prendre possession, et qu`il chassera devant toi beaucoup de nations, les Héthiens, les Guirgasiens, les Amoréens, les Cananéens, les Phéréziens, les Héviens et les Jébusiens, sept nations plus nombreuses et plus puissantes que toi;"
1. "Rehefa entin' i Jehovah Andriamanitrao ho any amin' ny tany izay hidiranao ianao ka ho azonao izany, ary firenena maro no voaroakany hiala eo anoloanao, dia ny Hetita sy ny Girgasita, sy ny Amorita sy ny Kananita sy ny Perizita sy ny Hivita ary ny Jebosita, dia firenena fito izay lehibe sy mahery noho ianao;"
2. And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:
2. lorsque l`Éternel, ton Dieu, te les aura livrées et que tu les auras battues, tu les dévoueras par interdit, tu ne traiteras point d`alliance avec elles, et tu ne leur feras point grâce.
2. Ary rehefa voatolotr' i Jehovah Andriamanitrao eo anoloanao ireny dia vonoy ka aringano mihitsy, fa aza manao fanekena aminy, na maneho famindram-po aminy.
3. Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.
3. "Tu ne contracteras point de mariage avec ces peuples, tu ne donneras point tes filles à leurs fils, et tu ne prendras point leurs filles pour tes fils;"

4. For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.

5. But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.
5. Voici, au contraire, comment vous agirez à leur égard: vous renverserez leurs autels, vous briserez leurs statues, vous abattrez leurs idoles, et vous brûlerez au feu leurs images taillées.

6. For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.
6. "Car tu es un peuple saint pour l`Éternel, ton Dieu; l`Éternel, ton Dieu, t`a choisi, pour que tu fusse un peuple qui lui appartînt entre tous les peuples qui sont sur la face de la terre."
6. "Fa firenena masina ho an' i Jehovah Andriamanitrao ianao; Jehovah Andriamanitrao no efa nifidy anao ho firenena manokana ho azy, mihoatra noho ny firenena rehetra ambonin' ny tany."
7. The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:
7. Ce n`est point parce que vous surpassez en nombre tous les peuples, que l`Éternel s`est attaché à vous et qu`il vous a choisis, car vous êtes le moindre de tous les peuples.
7. "Tsy ny hamaroanareo noho ny firenena rehetra anefa no niraiketan' ny fitiavan' i Jehovah taminareo sy nifidianany anareo, fa ianareo dia vitsy noho ny firenena rehetra;"
8. But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
8. Mais, parce que l`Éternel vous aime, parce qu`il a voulu tenir le serment qu`il avait fait à vos pères, l`Éternel vous a fait sortir par sa main puissante, vous a délivrés de la maison de servitude, de la main de Pharaon, roi d`Égypte.

9. Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
9. Sache donc que c`est l`Éternel, ton Dieu, qui est Dieu. Ce Dieu fidèle garde son alliance et sa miséricorde jusqu`à la millième génération envers ceux qui l`aiment et qui observent ses commandements.
9. "Koa aoka ho fantatrao fa Jehovah Andriamanitrao, dia Izy no Andriamanitra, Ilay Andriamanitra mahatoky, Izay mitandrina fanekena sy famindrampo amin' izay tia Azy sy mitandrina ny didiny hatramin' ny taranaka arivo mandimby;"
10. And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.
10. "Mais il use directement de représailles envers ceux qui le haïssent, et il les fait périr; il ne diffère point envers celui qui le hait, il use directement de représailles."

11. Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.
11. Ainsi, observe les commandements, les lois et les ordonnances que je te prescris aujourd`hui, et mets-les en pratique.

12. Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:
12. Si vous écoutez ces ordonnances, si vous les observez et les mettez en pratique, l`Éternel, ton Dieu, gardera envers toi l`alliance et la miséricorde qu`il a jurées à tes pères.
12. "Koa izao no hiseho, raha mihaino ireo fitsipika ireo ianareo, ka mitandrina sy manao izany, dia hotandreman' i Jehovah Andriamanitrao aminao ny fanekena sy ny famindrampo izay efa nianianany tamin' ny razanao;"
13. And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
13. "Il t`aimera, il te bénira et te multipliera; il bénira le fruit de tes entrailles et le fruit de ton sol, ton blé, ton moût et ton huile, les portées de ton gros et de ton menu bétail, dans le pays qu`il a juré à tes pères de te donner."
13. "Dia ho tia sy hitahy anao ary hahamaro anao Izy; ary hitahy ny ateraky ny kibonao koa Izy, sy ny vokatry ny taninao, dia ny varimbazahanao sy ny ranom-boalobokao sy ny diloilonao, ary ny ateraky ny ombinao sy ny ateraky ny ondry aman' osinao any amin' ny tany izay nianianany tamin' ny razanao homena anao."
14. Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.
14. "Tu seras béni plus que tous les peuples; il n`y aura chez toi ni homme ni femme stérile, ni bête stérile parmi tes troupeaux."
14. Hotahiana mihoatra noho ny firenena rehetra ianao, tsy hisy lahy na vavy tsy hiteraka eo aminareo, na eo amin' ny biby fiompinareo.
15. And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.
15. "L`Éternel éloignera de toi toute maladie; il ne t`enverra aucune de ces mauvaises maladies d`Égypte qui te sont connues, mais il en frappera tous ceux qui te haïssent."
15. "Ary hoesorin' i Jehovah aminao ny aretina rehetra, ka tsy hisy hamelezany anao ny aretin-dratsin' i Egypta, izay fantatrao; fa hataony amin' izay rehetra mankahala anao kosa ireny."
16. And thou shalt consume all the people which the LORD thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee.
16. Tu dévoreras tous les peuples que l`Éternel, ton Dieu, va te livrer, tu ne jetteras pas sur eux un regard de pitié, et tu ne serviras point leurs dieux, car ce serait un piège pour toi.
16. "Ary holevoninao ny firenena rehetra izay hatolotr' i Jehovah Andriamanitrao anao ka tsy hiantra azy ny masonao; ary aza manompo ny andriamaniny, fa ho fandrika aminao ireny."
17. If thou shalt say in thine heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?
17. "Peut-être diras-tu dans ton coeur: Ces nations sont plus nombreuses que moi; comment pourrai-je les chasser?"
17. Raha ianao hanao anakampo hoe: Maro noho izaho ireo firenena ireo ka hataoko ahoana no fahay mandroaka azy?
18. Thou shalt not be afraid of them: but shalt well remember what the LORD thy God did unto Pharaoh, and unto all Egypt;
18. Ne les crains point. Rappelle à ton souvenir ce que l`Éternel, ton Dieu, a fait à Pharaon et à toute l`Égypte,

19. The great temptations which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the stretched out arm, whereby the LORD thy God brought thee out: so shall the LORD thy God do unto all the people of whom thou art afraid.
19. les grandes épreuves que tes yeux ont vues, les miracles et les prodiges, la main forte et le bras étendu, quand l`Éternel, ton Dieu, t`a fait sortir: ainsi fera l`Éternel, ton Dieu, à tous les peuples que tu redoutes.
19. "Dia ny fizahan-toetra lehibe, izay efa hitan' ny masonao, sy ny famantarana sy ny fahagagana sy ny tanana mahery ary ny sandry nahinjitra, izay nitondran' i Jehovah Andriamanitrao anao nivoaka; fa toy izany no hataon' i Jehovah Andriamanitrao amin' ny firenena rehetra izay atahoranao."
20. Moreover the LORD thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from thee, be destroyed.
20. L`Éternel, ton Dieu, enverra même les frelons contre eux, jusqu`à la destruction de ceux qui échapperont et qui se cacheront devant toi.
20. Ary ny fanenitra koa dia hampandehanin' i Jehovah Andriamanitrao ho eo aminy mandra-paharingan' izay sisa sy izay efa niery ka tsy hitanao.
21. Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the LORD thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible.
21. "Ne sois point effrayé à cause d`eux; car l`Éternel, ton Dieu, est au milieu de toi, le Dieu grand et terrible."
21. Aza matahotra azy ianao, fa Jehovah Andriamanitrao no eo aminao, dia Andriamanitra mahery sy mahatahotra.
22. And the LORD thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.
22. "L`Éternel, ton Dieu, chassera peu à peu ces nations loin de ta face; tu ne pourras pas les exterminer promptement, de peur que les bêtes des champs ne se multiplient contre toi."
22. "Ary horoahin' i Jehovah Andriamanitrao eo alohanao tsikelikely ireny firenena ireny; tsy handringana azy faingana ianao, fandrao hihamaro ny biby any an-tsaha ka hamely anao."
23. But the LORD thy God shall deliver them unto thee, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be destroyed.
23. "L`Éternel, ton Dieu, te les livrera; et il les mettra complètement en déroute, jusqu`à ce qu`elles soient détruites."
23. Fa hatolotr' i Jehovah Andriamanitrao eo anoloanao izy ka haringany amin' ny fandringanana mahery mandra-pahalany ritrany.
24. And he shall deliver their kings into thine hand, and thou shalt destroy their name from under heaven: there shall no man be able to stand before thee, until thou have destroyed them.
24. "Il livrera leurs rois entre tes mains, et tu feras disparaître leurs noms de dessous les cieux; aucun ne tiendra contre toi, jusqu`à ce que tu les aies détruits."
24. "Dia hatolony eo an-tananao ny mpanjakany, ka hofoananao tsy ho re intsony aty ambanin' ny lanitra ny anarany; tsy hisy olona hahajanona eo anoloanao, mandra-pandringanao azy ireny."
25. The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God.
25. "Vous brûlerez au feu les images taillées de leurs dieux. Tu ne convoiteras point et tu ne prendras point pour toi l`argent et l`or qui sont sur elles, de peur que ces choses ne te deviennent un piège; car elles sont en abomination à l`Éternel, ton Dieu."
25. "Ny sarin-javatra voasokitra an' ny andriamaniny dia hodoranao amin' ny afo; aza maniry ny volafotsy, na ny volamena izay eo aminy, na maka izany ho anao, fandrao ho voafandriny ianao; fa fahavetavetana eo imason' i Jehovah Andriamanitrao izany."
26. Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.
26. "Tu n`introduiras point une chose abominable dans ta maison, afin que tu ne sois pas, comme cet chose, dévoué par interdit; tu l`auras en horreur, tu l`auras en abomination,, car c`est une chose dévouée par interdit."
26. "Aza mitondra fahavetavetana ho ao an-tranonao, fandrao ho voaozona tahaka izany koa ianao; ho halanao indrindra izany ary ho fahavetavetana indrindra izany, fa zavatra voaozona."
