Daniel in the Den of Lions
1. It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;
1. Darius trouva bon d`établir sur le royaume cent vingt satrapes, qui devaient être dans tout le royaume.

2. And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage.
2. Il mit à leur tête trois chefs, au nombre desquels était Daniel, afin que ces satrapes leur rendissent compte, et que le roi ne souffrît aucun dommage.
2. Ary tambonin' ireo nisy filoha telo, ka Daniela no lohany, izay hitondran' ny solo-mpanjaka ny raharaha tsy hahafatiantoka ny mpanjaka.
3. Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
3. "Daniel surpassait les chefs et les satrapes, parce qu`il y avait en lui un esprit supérieur; et le roi pensait à l`établir sur tout le royaume."
3. "Koa io Daniela io dia nankasitrahana nihoatra noho ny mpitondra sy ny solo-mpanjaka, fa nanana fanahy tsara sy ambony izy; ary ny mpanjaka nikasa hanandratra azy ho lehibe amin' ny fanjakana rehetra."
4. Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him.
4. Alors les chefs et les satrapes cherchèrent une occasion d`accuser Daniel en ce qui concernait les affaires du royaume. Mais ils ne purent trouver aucune occasion, ni aucune chose à reprendre, parce qu`il était fidèle, et qu`on apercevait chez lui ni faute, ni rien de mauvais.
4. Koa ny mpitondra sy ny solo-mpanjaka dia nikatsaka izay hiampangana an' i Daniela ny amin' ny fanjakana, nefa tsy nahita izay hiampangany azy na izay tsininy akory ireo, satria mahatoky izy, ka tsy nisy kilema na tsiny hita taminy.
5. Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.
5. Et ces hommes dirent: Nous ne trouverons aucune occasion contre ce Daniel, à moins que nous n`en trouvions une dans la loi de son Dieu.
5. Dia hoy ireo lehilahy ireo: Tsy ho hitantsika izay hiampangantsika io Daniela io raha tsy ny amin' ny lalàn' Andriamaniny no misy hitantsika hiampangana azy.
6. Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever.
6. Puis ces chefs et ces satrapes se rendirent tumultueusement auprès du roi, et lui parlèrent ainsi: Roi Darius, vis éternellement!

7. All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.
7. Tous les chefs du royaume, les intendants, les satrapes, les conseillers, et les gouverneurs sont d`avis qu`il soit publié un édit royal, avec une défense sévère, portant que quiconque, dans l`espace de trente jours, adressera des prières à quelque dieu ou à quelque homme, excepté à toi, ô roi, sera jeté dans la fosse aux lions.
7. Ny mpitondra rehetra amin' ny fanjakana, ny governora, sy ny solo-mpanjaka sy ny mpanolo-tsaina, ary ny kapiteny dia nifanara-kevitra fa hanao lalàna avy amin' ny mpanjaka sy didy hentitra, fa na zovy na zovy no hanao fangatahana ato anatin' ny telopolo andro na amin' Andriamanitra na amin' olona afa-tsy aminao ihany, ry mpanjaka ô, dia hatsipy ao an-davaky ny liona izy.
8. Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
8. Maintenant, ô roi, confirme la défense, et écris le décret, afin qu`il soit irrévocable, selon la loi des Mèdes et des Perses, qui est immuable.
8. Ankehitriny, ry mpanjaka ô, ataovy mafy ny lalàna, ka asio sonia ny teny mba tsy hiova, araka ny lalàn' ny Mediana sy ny Persiana izay tsy azo ovana.
9. Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the decree.
9. Là-dessus le roi Darius écrivit le décret et la défense.
9. Ary noho izany dia nasian' i Dariosy mpanjaka sonia izany lalàna sy didy izany.
10. Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
10. "Lorsque Daniel sut que le décret était écrit, il se retira dans sa maison, où les fenêtres de la chambre supérieure étaient ouvertes dans la direction de Jérusalem; et trois fois le jour il se mettait à genoux, il priait, et il louait son Dieu, comme il le faisait auparavant."
10. "Nony fantatr' i Daniela fa efa voaisy sonia ny soratra, dia nankao an-tranony izy; ary ny varavarankelin' ny tranony ambony manandrify an' i Jerosalema dia nivoha, koa intelo isan' andro izy no nandohalika ka nivavaka sy nisaotra teo anatrehan' Andriamaniny, tahaka ny fanaony hatramin' ny taloha."
11. Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.
11. Alors ces hommes entrèrent tumultueusement, et ils trouvèrent Daniel qui priait et invoquait son Dieu.
11. Dia somaritaka nivory ireo lehilahy ireo ka nahita an' i Daniela mangataka sy mifona eo anatrehan' Andriamaniny.
12. Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
12. Puis ils se présentèrent devant le roi, et lui dirent au sujet de la défense royale: N`as-tu pas écrit une défense portant que quiconque dans l`espace de trente jours adresserait des prières à quelque dieu ou à quelque homme, excepté à toi, ô roi, serait jeté dans la fosse aux lions? Le roi répondit: La chose est certaine, selon la loi des Mèdes et des Perses, qui est immuable.
12. Dia nanatona izy ka niteny teo anatrehan' ny mpanjaka mikasika ny lalàn' ny mpanjaka hoe: Moa tsy misy lalàna nasianao sonia va fa na zovy na zovy no hanao fangatahana, na amin' Andriamanitra na amin' olona, ato anatin' ny telopolo andro, afa-tsy aminao ihany ry mpanjaka ô, dia hatsipy ao an-davaky ny liona? Namaly ny mpanjaka ka nanao hoe: Marina izany, dia araka ny lalàn' ny Mediana sy ny Persiana izay tsy azo ovana.
13. Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.
13. Ils prirent de nouveau la parole et dirent au roi: Daniel, l`un des captifs de Juda, n`a tenu aucun compte de toi, ô roi, ni de la défense que tu as écrite, et il fait sa prière trois fois le jour.
13. Dia namaly ireo ka niteny teo anatrehan' ny mpanjaka hoe: Ilay Daniela, isan' ny babo avy amin' ny taranak' i Joda, dia tsy manaiky anao, ry mpanjaka ô, na ny lalàna izay nasianao sonia, fa manao fangatahana intelo isan' andro izy.
14. Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him.
14. "Le roi fut très affligé quand il entendit cela; il prit à coeur de délivrer Daniel, et jusqu`au coucher du soleil il s`efforça de le sauver."
14. Dia tsy faly tamin' ny tenany ny mpanjaka, raha nahare izany teny izany, nefa matiny ihany izy ny hanafaka an' i Daniela, ka nanao izay tratry ny heviny hamonjy azy mandra-pilentiky ny masoandro.
15. Then these men assembled unto the king, and said unto the king, Know, O king, that the law of the Medes and Persians is, That no decree nor statute which the king establisheth may be changed.
15. Mais ces hommes insistèrent auprès du roi, et lui dirent: Sache, ô roi, que la loi des Mèdes et des Perses exige que toute défense ou tout décret confirmé par le roi soit irrévocable.
15. Dia nivory ho any amin' ny mpanjaka ireo lehilahy ireo nanao tamin' ny mpanjaka hoe: Aoka ho fantatrao ry mpanjaka, fa izao no lalàn' ny Mediana sy ny Persiana: Ny lalàna sy ny didy izay efa navoaky ny mpanjaka dia tsy azo ovana.
16. Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee.
16. Alors le roi donna l`ordre qu`on amenât Daniel, et qu`on le jetât dans la fosse aux lions. Le roi prit la parole et dit à Daniel: Puisse ton Dieu, que tu sers avec persévérance, te délivrer!
16. "Dia nandidy ny mpanjaka; ary nentina Daniela ka natsipy tao an-davaky ny liona.Dia niteny ny mpanjaka ka nanao tamin' i Daniela hoe: Andriamanitrao izay tompoinao mandrakariva anie hanafaka anao."
17. And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.
17. "On apporta une pierre, et on la mit sur l`ouverture de la fosse; le roi la scella de son anneau et de l`anneau de ses grands, afin que rien ne fût changé à l`égard de Daniel."
17. "Ary nisy vato nalaina ka natampina ny vava-lavaka; ary ny mpanjaka nanomboka izany tamin' ny fanombohan-kaseny sy tamin' ny fanombohan-kasen' ny andriandahiny, mba tsy hovana ny fikasana mikasika an' i Daniela."
18. Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him.
18. "Le roi se rendit ensuite dans son palais; il passa la nuit à jeun, il ne fit point venir de concubine auprès de lui, et il ne put se livrer au sommeil."
18. Dia nody tany an-dapany ny mpanjaka ary tsy nitendry hanina mandritra ny alina, sady tsy nisy zava-maneno nampidirina teo anatrehany, ary tsy nahita torimaso izy.
19. Then the king arose very early in the morning, and went in haste unto the den of lions.
19. Le roi se leva au point du jour, avec l`aurore, et il alla précipitamment à la fosse aux lions.
19. Dia nifoha maraina koa ny mpanjaka ka nandeha faingana ho any amin' ny lavaky ny liona.
20. And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions?
20. En s`approchant de la fosse, il appela Daniel d`une voix triste. Le roi prit la parole et dit à Daniel: Daniel, serviteur du Dieu vivant, ton Dieu, que tu sers avec persévérance, a-t-il pu te délivrer des lions?
20. "Ary nony tonga teo amin' ny lavaka izy, dia niantso an' i Daniela tamin' ny feo malahelo; ary niteny ny mpanjaka ka nanao tamin' i Daniela hoe: Ry Daniela mpanompon' Andriamanitra velona ô, moa Andriamanitrao izay tompoinao mandrakariva mahafaka anao amin' ny liona va?"
21. Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever.
21. Et Daniel dit au roi: Roi, vis éternellement?
21. Dia hoy Daniela tamin' ny mpanjaka: Ry mpanjaka, ho velona mandrakizay anie ianao!
22. My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.
22. "Mon Dieu a envoyé son ange et fermé la gueule des lions, qui ne m`ont fait aucun mal, parce que j`ai été trouvé innocent devant lui; et devant toi non plus, ô roi, je n`ai rien fait de mauvais."
22. "Andriamanitro efa naniraka ny anjeliny ka nanakombona ny vavan' ny liona tsy handratra ahy, satria fahamarinana no hitany tamiko; ary teo anatrehanao koa, ry mpanjaka ô, tsy nanao ratsy aho."
23. Then was the king exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.
23. Alors le roi fut très joyeux, et il ordonna qu`on fît sortir Daniel de la fosse. Daniel fut retiré de la fosse, et on ne trouva sur lui aucune blessure, parce qu`il avait eu confiance en son Dieu.
23. Dia faly indrindra ny mpanjaka, ka nasainy nakarina avy ao an-davaka Daniela. Dia nakarina avy tao an-davaka Daniela, ary tsy hita nisy naratra izy, satria nino an' Andriamaniny.
24. And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.
24. "Le roi ordonna que ces hommes qui avaient accusé Daniel fussent amenés et jetés dans la fosse aux lions, eux, leurs enfants et leurs femmes; et avant qu`ils fussent parvenus au fond de la fosse, les lions les saisirent et brisèrent tous leur os."
24. Ary ny mpanjaka nandidy, ka nentina ireo lehilahy niampanga an' i Daniela ireo, dia natsipy tao an-davaky ny liona izy mbamin' ny vadiny aman-janany, ary ny liona nanan-kery taminy ka nanapatapaka ny taolany, raha tsy mbola nipaka tamin' ny vodin' ny lavaka akory aza izy.
25. Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.
25. Après cela, le roi Darius écrivit à tous les peuples, à toutes les nations, aux hommes de toutes langues, qui habitaient sur toute la terre: Que la paix vous soit donnée avec abondance!
25. Tamin' izany Dariosy mpanjaka dia nanoratra ho amin' ny olona, ny firenena sy ny samy hafa fiteny rehetra izay monina ambonin' ny tany rehetra hoe: Hitombo anie ny fiadananareo.
26. I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end.
26. "J`ordonne que, dans toute l`étendue de mon royaume, on ait de la crainte et de la frayeur pour le Dieu de Daniel. Car il est le Dieu vivant, et il subsiste éternellement; son royaume ne sera jamais détruit, et sa domination durera jusqu`à la fin."
26. "Manao lalàna aho mba hangovitan' ny olona sy hatahorany eo anatrehan' Andriamanitr' i Daniela eran' ny fanjakako rehetra; fa Izy no Andriamanitra velona sady maharitra mandrakizay; ary ny fanjakany tsy ho rava, ary ny fanapahany haharitra hatramin' ny farany."
27. He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions.
27. C`est lui qui délivre et qui sauve, qui opère des signes et des prodiges dans les cieux et sur la terre. C`est lui qui a délivré Daniel de la puissance des lions.
27. Izy no manafaka sy mamonjy ary manao famantarana sy fahagagana any an-danitra sy ety an-tany ary Izy no nanafaka an' i Daniela tamin' ny herin' ny liona.
28. So this Daniel prospered in the reign of Darius, and in the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
28. Daniel prospéra sous le règne de Darius, et sous le règne de Cyrus, le Perse.
28. Koa izany Daniela izany dia nambinina tamin' ny nanjakan' i Dariosy sy tamin' ny nanjakan' i Kyrosy Persiana.
