Naomi and Ruth
1. Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehemjudah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.
1. Du temps des juges, il y eut une famine dans le pays. Un homme de Bethléhem de Juda partit, avec sa femme et ses deux fils, pour faire un séjour dans le pays de Moab.

2. And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehemjudah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there.
2. "Le nom de cet homme était Élimélec, celui de sa femme Naomi, et ses deux fils s`appelaient Machlon et Kiljon; ils étaient Éphratiens, de Bethléhem de Juda. Arrivés au pays de Moab, ils y fixèrent leur demeure."
2. Elimeleka no anaran-dralehilahy, ary Naomy no anaran' ny vadiny, ary ny anaran' ny zanany roa lahy dia Malona sy Kiliona, Efratita avy any Betlehema-joda izy ireo. Dia tonga tany amin' ny tany Moaba izy ka nitoetra tany.
3. And Elimelech Naomi's husband died; and she was left, and her two sons.
3. Élimélec, mari de Naomi, mourut, et elle resta avec ses deux fils.
3. Ary maty Elimeleka, vadin' i Naomy, ka izy sy ny zanany roa lahy ihany no sisa.
4. And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years.
4. Ils prirent des femmes Moabites, dont l`une se nommait Orpa, et l`autre Ruth, et ils habitèrent là environ dix ans.

5. And Mahlon and Chilion died also both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband.
5. Machlon et Kiljon moururent aussi tous les deux, et Naomi resta privée de ses deux fils et de son mari.
5. Ary maty koa izy mirahalahy, dia Malona sy Kiliona, ka dia namoy ny zanany roa lahy sy ny vadiny ravehivavy.
6. Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread.
6. Puis elle se leva, elle et ses belles-filles, afin de quitter le pays de Moab, car elle apprit au pays de Moab que l`Éternel avait visité son peuple et lui avait donné du pain.
6. "Dia niainga izy sy ny vinantony vavy ka nody avy tany amin' ny tany Moaba; fa efa reny tany amin' ny tany Moaba fa novangian' i Jehovah ny olony ka nomeny hanina."
7. Wherefore she went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her; and they went on the way to return unto the land of Judah.
7. Elle sortit du lieu qu`elle habitait, accompagnée de ses deux belles-filles, et elle se mit en route pour retourner dans le pays de Juda.
7. "Dia niala tamin' izay nitoerany izy, ary ny vinantony roa vavy niaraka taminy; ary nandeha teny an-dalana izy hiverina any amin' ny tanin' ny Joda."
8. And Naomi said unto her two daughters in law, Go, return each to her mother's house: the LORD deal kindly with you, as ye have dealt with the dead, and with me.
8. Naomi dit alors à ses deux belles-filles: Allez, retournez chacune à la maison de sa mère! Que l`Éternel use de bonté envers vous, comme vous l`avez fait envers ceux qui sont morts et envers moi!
8. "Ary hoy Naomy tamin' ny vinantony roa vavy: Andeha samia mody any amin' ny tranon-dreninareo avy ianareo; mba hohasoavin' i Jehovah anie ianareo araka izay efa nataonareo tamin' ny maty sy tamiko koa."
9. The LORD grant you that ye may find rest, each of you in the house of her husband. Then she kissed them; and they lifted up their voice, and wept.
9. "Que l`Éternel vous fasse trouver à chacune du repos dans la maison d`un mari! Et elle les baisa. Elles élevèrent la voix, et pleurèrent;"
9. Homen' i Jehovah fitsaharana any amin' ny tranon' ny vadinareo avy anie ianareo. Dia nanoroka azy Naomy: ary izy roa vavy dia nanandratra ny feony ka nitomany.
10. And they said unto her, Surely we will return with thee unto thy people.
10. et elles lui dirent: Non, nous irons avec toi vers ton peuple.
10. Dia hoy izy roa vavy taminy: hiara-miverina aminao tokoa izahay ho any amin' ny firenenao.
11. And Naomi said, Turn again, my daughters: why will ye go with me? are there yet any more sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?
11. Naomi, dit: Retournez, mes filles! Pourquoi viendriez-vous avec moi? Ai-je encore dans mon sein des fils qui puissent devenir vos maris?
11. "Fa hoy Naomy: Miverena ihany ianareo, anaka; nahoana no hiara-mandeha amiko ianareo? Mbola misy zazalahy va ato an-kiboko mba ho vadinareo?"
12. Turn again, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have an husband. If I should say, I have hope, if I should have an husband also to night, and should also bear sons;
12. "Retournez, mes filles, allez! Je suis trop vieille pour me remarier. Et quand je dirais: J`ai de l`espérance; quand cette nuit même je serais avec un mari, et que j`enfanterais des fils,"
12. "Miverena ianareo, ry zanako vavy, ka mandehana; fa efa antitra loatra aho ka tsy hahazo vady intsony tsy akory. Raha hoy aho: Manantena ihany aho, eny, na dia hanambady anio alina aza aho, ka hiteraka zazalahy koa,"
13. Would ye tarry for them till they were grown? would ye stay for them from having husbands? nay, my daughters; for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the LORD is gone out against me.
13. attendriez-vous pour cela qu`ils eussent grandi, refuseriez-vous pour cela de vous marier? Non, mes filles! car à cause de vous je suis dans une grande affliction de ce que la main de l`Éternel s`est étendue contre moi.
13. "Moa hahandry azy mandra-pahalehibeny va ianareo ka hijanona tsy hanam-bady? Tsia, ry zanako vavy, fa mangidy lavitra ny nanjo ahy noho ny nanjo anareo; fa ny tanan' i Jehovah no efa nahinjiny hamely ahy."
14. And they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth clave unto her.
14. Et elles élevèrent la voix, et pleurèrent encore. Orpa baisa sa belle-mère, mais Ruth s`attacha à elle.
14. "Dia samy nanandratra ny feony indray izy roa vavy ka nitomany; ary Orpa dia nanoroka ny rafozany vavy, fa Rota kosa nifikitra taminy ihany."
15. And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law.
15. "Naomi dit à Ruth: Voici, ta belle-soeur est retournée vers son peuple et vers ses dieux; retourne, comme ta belle-soeur."
15. "Ary hoy izy: Indro, ny rahavavinao lasa nody ho any amin' ny fireneny sy ny andriamaniny; ka mba miverena koa ianao hanaraka ny rahavavinao."
16. And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
16. "Ruth répondit: Ne me presse pas de te laisser, de retourner loin de toi! Où tu iras j`irai, où tu demeureras je demeurerai; ton peuple sera mon peuple, et ton Dieu sera mon Dieu;"
16. "Fa hoy Rota: Aza manery ahy handao anao sy hiala amin' ny fanarahana anao; fa izay alehanao no halehako, ary izay itoeranao no hitoerako, ny firenenao no ho fireneko ary ny Andriamanitrao no ho Andriamanitro;"
17. Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.
17. où tu mourras je mourrai, et j`y serai enterrée. Que l`Éternel me traite dans toute sa rigueur, si autre chose que la mort vient à me séparer de toi!
17. "Izay hahafatesanao no hahafatesako, sady any koa no handevenana ahy; hataon' i Jehovah amiko anie izany, eny, mihoatra noho izany aza, raha tsy ny fahafatesana ihany no hampisaraka antsika."
18. When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her.
18. Naomi, la voyant décidée à aller avec elle, cessa ses instances.
18. Ary rehefa hitany fa mbola nifikitra hiaraka aminy ihany Rota, dia nitsahatra tsy niteny taminy intsony izy.
19. So they two went until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is this Naomi?
19. Elles firent ensemble le voyage jusqu`à leur arrivée à Bethléhem. Et lorsqu`elles entrèrent dans Bethléhem, toute la ville fut émue à cause d`elles, et les femmes disaient: Est-ce là Naomi?
19. Dia nandeha izy mianaka mandra-pahatongany tany Betlehema. Ary izao no niseho, rehefa tonga tany Betlehema izy, dia taitra taminy ny tanàna rehetra, ka nanao hoe: Naomy va re ity?
20. And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.
20. "Elle leur dit: Ne m`appelez pas Naomi; appelez-moi Mara, car le Tout Puissant m`a remplie d`amertume."
20. Fa hoy izy taminy: Aza atao hoe: Naomy intsony aho, fa ataovy hoe Mara, satria mangidy indrindra ny nataon' ny Tsitoha tamiko.
21. I went out full, and the LORD hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the LORD hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?
21. J`étais dans l`abondance à mon départ, et l`Éternel me ramène les mains vides. Pourquoi m`appelleriez-vous Naomi, après que l`Éternel s`est prononcé contre moi, et que le Tout Puissant m`a affligée?
21. Nivoaka nanam-be aho, fa ampodin' i Jehovah tsy manana na inona na inona. Nahoana aho no ataonareo hoe Naomy, fa Jehovah no efa nitsangana hanohitra ahy, ary ny Tsitoha no efa nampahory ahy?
22. So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter in law, with her, which returned out of the country of Moab: and they came to Bethlehem in the beginning of barley harvest.
22. Ainsi revinrent du pays de Moab Naomi et sa belle-fille, Ruth la Moabite. Elles arrivèrent à Bethléhem au commencement de la moisson des orges.
