The King's Edict in Behalf of the Jews

2. And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it unto Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.

2. "Le roi ôta son anneau, qu`il avait repris à Haman, et le donna à Mardochée; Esther, de son côté, établit Mardochée sur la maison d`Haman."

2. Ary nesorin' ny mpanjaka ny peratra fanombohany, izay efa nalainy tamin' i Hamana, ka nomeny an' i Mordekay. Ary Mordekay dia notendren' i Estera hanapaka ny tranon' i Hamana.

3. And Esther spake yet again before the king, and fell down at his feet, and besought him with tears to put away the mischief of Haman the Agagite, and his device that he had devised against the Jews.

3. Puis Esther parla de nouveau en présence du roi. Elle se jeta à ses pieds, elle pleura, elle le supplia d`empêcher les effets de la méchanceté d`Haman, l`Agaguite, et la réussite de ses projets contre les Juifs.

3. Dia niteny teo anatrehan' ny mpanjaka indray Estera sady niankohoka tamin' ny tongony ka nitomany sy nifona taminy mba hahafoana ny ratsy nataon' i Hamana Agagita sy ny hevitra nataony hamelezany ny Jiosy.

4. Then the king held out the golden sceptre toward Esther. So Esther arose, and stood before the king,

4. Le roi tendit le sceptre d`or à Esther, qui se releva et resta debout devant le roi.

4. Ary ny mpanjaka nanondro an' i Estera tamin' ny tehim-bolamena. Dia nitsangana i Estera ka nijanona teo anatrehan' ny mpanjaka,

5. And said, If it please the king, and if I have found favour in his sight, and the thing seem right before the king, and I be pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews which are in all the king's provinces:

5. Elle dit alors: Si le roi le trouve bon et si j`ai trouvé grâce devant lui, si la chose paraît convenable au roi et si je suis agréable à ses yeux, qu`on écrive pour révoquer les lettres conçues par Haman, fils d`Hammedatha, l`Agaguite, et écrites par lui dans le but de faire périr les Juifs qui sont dans toutes les provinces du roi.

5. Ka nanao hoe: Raha sitraky ny mpanjaka ary raha mahita fitia eto imasony aho, sady ataon' ny mpanjaka ho mety izany, ka mahita sitraka eto imasony aho, dia aoka hisy soratra hanova ireny taratasy voahevitr' i Hamana zanak' i Hamedota Agagita ireny, izay nosoratany hampandringana ny Jiosy amin' ny faritanin' ny mpanjaka rehetra.

6. For how can I endure to see the evil that shall come unto my people? or how can I endure to see the destruction of my kindred?

6. Car comment pourrais-je voir le malheur qui atteindrait mon peuple, et comment pourrais-je voir la destruction de ma race?

6. Fa ataoko ahoana no fijery ny loza hanjo ny fireneko? Ary ataoko ahoana no fijery ny fandringanana ny fianakaviako?

7. Then the king Ahasuerus said unto Esther the queen and to Mordecai the Jew, Behold, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and him they have hanged upon the gallows, because he laid his hand upon the Jews.

7. Le roi Assuérus dit à la reine Esther et au Juif Mardochée: Voici, j`ai donné à Esther la maison d`Haman, et il a été pendu au bois pour avoir étendu la main contre les Juifs.

7. "Dia hoy Ahasoerosy mpanjaka tamin' i Estera, vadin' ny mpanjaka sy tamin' i Mordekay Jiosy: Indro, ny tranon' i Hamana efa nomeko an' i Estera, ary izy dia efa nahantona tamin' ny hazo, satria naninjitra ny tanany hamely ny Jiosy;"

8. Write ye also for the Jews, as it liketh you, in the king's name, and seal it with the king's ring: for the writing which is written in the king's name, and sealed with the king's ring, may no man reverse.

8. "Écrivez donc en faveur des Juifs comme il vous plaira, au nom du roi, et scellez avec l`anneau du roi; car une lettre écrite au nom du roi et scellée avec l`anneau du roi ne peut être révoquée."

8. "Ary ianareo kosa dia manorata amin' ny anaran' ny mpanjaka araka izay sitrakareo hamonjy ny Jiosy, ka tombohy amin' ny peratra fanombohan' ny mpanjaka izany; fa tsy misy mahavadika ny soratra izay efa voasoratra tamin' ny anaran' ny mpanjaka sy efa voatomboka tamin' ny peratra fanombohan' ny mpanjaka."

9. Then were the king's scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month Sivan, on the three and twentieth day thereof; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the deputies and rulers of the provinces which are from India unto Ethiopia, an hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every province according to the writing thereof, and unto every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language.

9. Les secrétaires du roi furent appelés en ce temps, le vingt-troisième jour du troisième mois, qui est le mois de Sivan, et l`on écrivit, suivant tout ce qui fut ordonné par Mardochée, aux Juifs, aux satrapes, aux gouverneurs et aux chefs des cent vingt-sept provinces situées de l`Inde à l`Éthiopie, à chaque province selon son écriture, à chaque peuple selon sa langue, et aux Juifs selon leur écriture et selon leur langue.

9. "Dia nantsoina tamin' izany fotoana izany ny mpanoratry ny mpanjaka, tamin' ny andro fahatelo amby roapolo tamin' ny volana fahatelo, dia ny volana Sivana izany; ary nosoratana araka izay rehetra nandidian' i Mordekay izany ho any amin' ny Jiosy sy ny solo-mpanjaka sy ny governora ary ny mpanapaka amin' ny faritany hatrany India ka hatrany Etiopia, dia faritany fito amby roapolo amby zato, ny faritany araka ny sorany avy, ary ny isam-pirenena araka ny fiteniny avy, ary ny Jiosy araka ny sorany sy araka ny fiteniny."

10. And he wrote in the king Ahasuerus' name, and sealed it with the king's ring, and sent letters by posts on horseback, and riders on mules, camels, and young dromedaries:

10. On écrivit au nom du roi Assuérus, et l`on scella avec l`anneau du roi. On envoya les lettres par des courriers ayant pour montures des chevaux et des mulets nés de juments.

10. "Ary nanoratra taratasy tamin' ny anaran' i Ahasoerosy mpanjaka izy ka notombohany tamin' ny peratra fanombohan' ny mpanjaka izany, ary ny taratasy nampitondrainy ny tsimandoa mitaingin-tsoavaly sy mpitaingina mole ary rameva sy rameva tanora tokan-trafo;"

11. Wherein the king granted the Jews which were in every city to gather themselves together, and to stand for their life, to destroy, to slay, and to cause to perish, all the power of the people and province that would assault them, both little ones and women, and to take the spoil of them for a prey,

Par ces lettres, le roi donnait aux Juifs, en quelque ville qu`ils fussent, la permission de se rassembler et de défendre leur vie, de détruire, de tuer et de faire périr, avec leurs petits enfants et leurs femmes, tous ceux de chaque peuple et de chaque province qui prendraient les armes pour les attaquer, et de livrer leurs biens au pillage,

11. Ka ny Jiosy izay teny amin' ny isan-tanàna dia navelan' ny mpanjaka hivory hiaro ny ainy sy handringana sy hamono ary handripaka ny hery rehetra an' ny firenena sy ny faritany izay te-hiady aminy, mbamin' ny vady aman-janak' ireny ary handroba ny fananany,

12. Upon one day in all the provinces of king Ahasuerus, namely, upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar.

12. et cela en un seul jour, dans toutes les provinces du roi Assuérus, le treizième du douzième mois, qui est le mois d`Adar.

12. Amin' ny andro iray any amin' ny faritany rehetra izay an' ny mpanjaka Ahasoerosy, dia amin' ny andro fahatelo ambin' ny folo amin' ny volana faharoa ambin' ny folo, dia ny volana Adara izany.

13. The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, and that the Jews should be ready against that day to avenge themselves on their enemies.

13. Ces lettres renfermaient une copie de l`édit qui devait être publié dans chaque province, et informaient tous les peuples que les Juifs se tiendraient prêts pour ce jour-là à se venger de leurs ennemis.

13. Ny kopian' ny soratra natao didy ho an' ny faritany rehetra dia naely tamin' ny olona rehetra mba ho vonona ny Jiosy ho amin' izany andro izany hamaliany ny fahavalony.

14. So the posts that rode upon mules and camels went out, being hastened and pressed on by the king's commandment. And the decree was given at Shushan the palace.

14. Les courriers, montés sur des chevaux et des mulets, partirent aussitôt et en toute hâte, d`après l`ordre du roi. L`édit fut aussi publié dans Suse, la capitale.

14. Dia lasa ny tsimandoa izay nitaingina mole sy rameva fa nohafainganina sy nododonan' ny didin' ny mpanjaka. Ary nomena tao Sosana renivohitra misy ny lapa koa ny lalàna.

15. And Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, and with a great crown of gold, and with a garment of fine linen and purple: and the city of Shushan rejoiced and was glad.

15. Mardochée sortit de chez le roi, avec un vêtement royal bleu et blanc, une grande couronne d`or, et un manteau de byssus et de pourpre. La ville de Suse poussait des cris et se réjouissait.

15. "Ary tamin' ny nialan' i Mordekay teo anatrehan' ny mpanjaka dia niakanjo akanjo fiandrianana manga sy fotsy izy sady nisatroka satroboninanitra volamena lehibe sy niakanjo akanjo lava rongony fotsy madinika sy volomparasy; ary faly sy ravo ny tanàna Sosana."

16. The Jews had light, and gladness, and joy, and honour.

16. Il n`y avait pour les Juifs que bonheur et joie, allégresse et gloire.

16. Ny Jiosy dia nahazo fahazavana sy faharavoravoana sy fifaliana ary voninahitra.

17. And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king's commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day. And many of the people of the land became Jews; for the fear of the Jews fell upon them.

17. Dans chaque province et dans chaque ville, partout où arrivaient l`ordre du roi et son édit, il y eut parmi les Juifs de la joie et de l`allégresse, des festins et des fêtes. Et beaucoup de gens d`entre les peuples du pays se firent Juifs, car la crainte des Juifs les avait saisis.

17. Ary teo amin' ny faritany sy ny tanàna rehetra izay nahatongavan' ny didy sy ny lalàn' ny mpanjaka, dia nahazo fifaliana sy faharavoravoana ny Jiosy sady nanao fanasana sy andro mahafaly. ary maro tamin' ny olona tompon-tany no tonga Jiosy, satria nahazo azy ny fahatahorana ny Jiosy.
