God's Promise to David
1. And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him rest round about from all his enemies;
1. Lorsque le roi habita dans sa maison, et que l`Éternel lui eut donné du repos, après l`avoir délivré de tous les ennemis qui l`entouraient,

2. That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.
2. il dit à Nathan le prophète: Vois donc! j`habite dans une maison de cèdre, et l`arche de Dieu habite au milieu d`une tente.

3. And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thine heart; for the LORD is with thee.
3. Nathan répondit au roi: Va, fais tout ce que tu as dans le coeur, car l`Éternel est avec toi.
3. "Dia hoy Natana tamin' ny mpanjaka: Andeha, ataovy izay rehetra ao am-ponao; fa Jehovah no momba anao."
4. And it came to pass that night, that the word of the LORD came unto Nathan, saying,
4. La nuit suivante, la parole de l`Éternel fut adressée à Nathan:
4. Ary izao no niseho, iny alina iny ihany dia tonga tamin' i Natana ny tenin' i Jehovah nanao hoe:
5. Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the LORD, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in?
5. Va dire à mon serviteur David: Ainsi parle l`Éternel: Est-ce toi qui me bâtirais une maison pour que j`en fasse ma demeure?
5. Andeha, lazao amin' i Davida mpanompoko hoe: Izao no lazain' i Jehovah: Ianao va no hanao trano hitoerako?
6. Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.
6. "Mais je n`ai point habité dans une maison depuis le jour où j`ai fait monter les enfants d`Israël hors d`Égypte jusqu`à ce jour; j`ai voyagé sous une tente et dans un tabernacle."
6. Fa tsy mbola nitoetra an-trano Aho hatramin' ny fotoana nitondrako ny Zanak' Isiraely niakatra avy tany Egypta ka mandraka androany, fa nifindrafindra tao anatin' ny lay sy ny tabernakely Aho.
7. In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why build ye not me an house of cedar?
7. Partout où j`ai marché avec tous les enfants d`Israël, ai-je dit un mot à quelqu`une des tribus d`Israël à qui j`avais ordonné de paître mon peuple d`Israël, ai-je dit: Pourquoi ne me bâtissez-vous pas une maison de cèdre?
7. Tamin' ny toerana rehetra izay nandehandehanako niaraka tamin' ny Zanak' Isiraely rehetra, moa nisy nitenenako akory va ny fokon' Isiraely, izay notendreko ho mpiandry ny Isiraely oloko, ka nanaovako hoe: Nahoana no tsy manao trano sedera ho Ahy ianareo?
8. Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel:
8. "Maintenant tu diras à mon serviteur David: Ainsi parle l`Éternel des armées: Je t`ai pris au pâturage, derrière les brebis, pour que tu fusses chef sur mon peuple, sur Israël;"
8. Koa lazao amin' i Davida mpanompoko hoe: Izao no lazain' i Jehovah, Tompon' ny maro: Izaho no naka anao avy tany an-tsaha, dia avy tamin' ny niandrasanao ondry, mba ho mpanapaka ny Isiraely oloko.
9. And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.
9. "j`ai été avec toi partout où tu as marché, j`ai exterminé tous tes ennemis devant toi, et j`ai rendu ton nom grand comme le nom des grands qui sont sur la terre;"
9. Ary nomba anao tamin' izay nalehanao rehetra Aho, ka naringako tsy ho eo anoloanao ny fahavalonao rehetra, ary nomeko anarana malaza tahaka ny anaran' izay lehibe ambonin' ny tany ianao.
10. Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime,
10. j`ai donné une demeure à mon peuple, à Israël, et je l`ai planté pour qu`il y soit fixé et ne soit plus agité, pour que les méchants ne l`oppriment plus comme auparavant
10. Ary hanendry toerana ho an' ny Isiraely oloko Aho ka hampiorina azy mba handry fahizay amin' ny fonenany izy ka tsy hifindra intsony, ary ny zanaky ny faharatsiana tsy hampahory azy intsony tahaka ny taloha,
11. And as since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies. Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make thee an house.
11. et comme à l`époque où j`avais établi des juges sur mon peuple d`Israël. Je t`ai accordé du repos en te délivrant de tous tes ennemis. Et l`Éternel t`annonce qu`il te créera une maison.
11. "Sy tahaka ny hatramin' ny nanendreko mpitsara ho mpifehy ny Isiraely oloko; ary nampiadana anao ho afaka amin' ny fahavalonao rehetra Aho. Dia lazain' i Jehovah aminao koa fa hanao trano ho anao Izy."
12. And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.
12. Quand tes jours seront accomplis et que tu seras couché avec tes pères, j`élèverai ta postérité après toi, celui qui sera sorti de tes entrailles, et j`affermirai son règne.
12. "Ary rehefa tapitra ny andronao, ka hodimandry any amin' ny razanao ianao, dia hatsangako ny taranakao handimby anao, izay haterakao, ary hampitoeriko ny fanjakany;"
13. He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.
13. Ce sera lui qui bâtira une maison à mon nom, et j`affermirai pour toujours le trône de son royaume.
13. Izy no hanao trano ho an' ny anarako ary Izaho kosa hampitoetra ny sezafiandrianan' ny fanjakany ho mandrakizay.
14. I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:
14. "Je serai pour lui un père, et il sera pour moi un fils. S`il fait le mal, je le châtierai avec la verge des hommes et avec les coups des enfants des hommes;"
14. "Izaho ho rainy, ary izy kosa ho zanako. Raha manao izay meloka izy, dia hanariko amin' ny tsorakazon' ny olona sy ny kapoky ny zanak' olombelona;"
15. But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.
15. mais ma grâce ne se retirera point de lui, comme je l`ai retirée de Saül, que j`ai rejeté devant toi.

16. And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.
16. Ta maison et ton règne seront pour toujours assurés, ton trône sera pour toujours affermi.
16. "Ary ny taranakao sy ny fanjakanao hitoetra eo anatrehanao mandrakizay; ny sezafiandriananao hitoetra mandrakizay."
17. According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.
17. Nathan rapporta à David toutes ces paroles et toute cette vision.

David's Prayer
18. Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
18. Et le roi David alla se présenter devant l`Éternel, et dit: Qui suis-je, Seigneur Éternel, et quelle est ma maison, pour que tu m`aies fait parvenir où je suis?
18. Ary Davida mpanjaka niditra nipetraka teo anatrehan' i Jehovah ka nanao hoe: Zinona moa aho, Jehovah Tompo ô? Ary zinona moa ny mpianakaviko, no novimbininao ambaraka ankehitriny aho?
19. And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant's house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD?
19. "C`est encore peu de chose à tes yeux, Seigneur Éternel; tu parles aussi de la maison de ton serviteur pour les temps à venir. Et tu daignes instruire un homme de ces choses, Seigneur Éternel!"
19. Ary mbola ataonao ho zavatra kely ihany aza izany, Jehovah Tompo ô, fa efa voalazanao koa ny amin' ny taranaky ny mpanomponao hatramin' ny mbola ho avy any aoriana lavitra aza. Ary moa fanaon' ny olona va izany Jehovah Andriamanitra ô!
20. And what can David say more unto thee? for thou, Lord GOD, knowest thy servant.
20. Que pourrait te dire de plus David? Tu connais ton serviteur, Seigneur Éternel!
20. Ka inona intsony no holazain' i Davida aminao? Fa Ianao Jehovah Tompo ô no mahalala ny mpanomponao.
21. For thy word's sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know them.
21. A cause de ta parole, et selon ton coeur, tu as fait toutes ces grandes choses pour les révéler à ton serviteur.
21. Noho ny teninao sy araka ny sitraponao no nanaovanao ireo zavatra lehibe rehetra ireo, hampahalalanao ny mpanomponao izany.
22. Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
22. Que tu es donc grand, Éternel Dieu! car nul n`est semblable à toi, et il n`y a point d`autre Dieu que toi, d`après tout ce que nous avons entendu de nos oreilles.
22. "Koa amin' izany dia lehibe Ianao, Jehovah Andriamanitra; fa tsy misy tahaka Anao, ary tsy misy Andriamanitra afa-tsy Ianao araka izay rehetra ren' ny sofinay."
23. And what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?
23. Est-il sur la terre une seule nation qui soit comme ton peuple, comme Israël, que Dieu est venu racheter pour en former son peuple, pour se faire un nom et pour accomplir en sa faveur, en faveur de ton pays, des miracles et des prodiges, en chassant devant ton peuple, que tu as racheté d`Égypte, des nations et leurs dieux?
23. Ary aiza moa no misy firenena aty an-tany tahaka ny Isiraely olonao, izay nalehan' Andriamanitra havotana ho olony sy hanaovany anarana ho Azy, ary hanaovany zavatra lehibe sy zava-mahatahotra ho anareo, ho an' ny taninao teo anatrehan' ny olonao, izay navotanao ho anao avy any Egypta, avy amin' ny firenena sy ny andriamaniny?
24. For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, LORD, art become their God.
24. "Tu as affermi ton peuple d`Israël, pour qu`il fût ton peuple à toujours; et toi, Éternel, tu es devenu son Dieu."
24. "Fa efa nampitoerinao ho anao ny olon' Isiraely ho olonao mandrakizay; ary Ianao, Jehovah ô, no efa tonga Andriamaniny."
25. And now, O LORD God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said.
25. Maintenant, Éternel Dieu, fais subsister jusque dans l`éternité la parole que tu as prononcée sur ton serviteur et sur sa maison, et agis selon ta parole.
25. Ary ankehitriny, Jehovah Andriamanitra ô, ilay teny nolazainao ny amin' ny mpanomponao sy ny taranany dia ampitoero ho mandrakizay, ary ataovy araka izay nolazainao.
26. And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee.
26. Que ton nom soit à jamais glorifié, et que l`on dise: L`Éternel des armées est le Dieu d`Israël! Et que la maison de ton serviteur David soit affermie devant toi!
26. "Ary aoka hohalehibiazina mandrakizay ny anaranao ka hatao hoe: Jehovah, Tompon' ny maro, no Andriamanitry ny Isiraely; ary aoka hampitoerina eo anatrehanao ny taranak' i Davida mpanomponao."
27. For thou, O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy servant, saying, I will build thee an house: therefore hath thy servant found in his heart to pray this prayer unto thee.
27. Car toi-même, Éternel des armées, Dieu d`Israël, tu t`es révélé à ton serviteur, en disant: Je te fonderai une maison! C`est pourquoi ton serviteur a pris courage pour t`adresser cette prière.
27. "Fa ianao, Jehovah, Tompon' ny maro ô, Andriamanitry ny Isiraely, efa nanambara tamin' ny mpanomponao nanao hoe: Izaho hanorina trano ho anao; koa izany no nampahasahy ny fon' ny mpanomponao hanao izao vavaka izao aminao."
28. And now, O Lord GOD, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:
28. Maintenant, Seigneur Éternel, tu es Dieu, et tes paroles sont vérité, et tu as annoncé cette grâce à ton serviteur.
28. Ary ankehitriny, Jehovah Andriamanitra ô, Ianao izany Andriamanitra izany, ary ho marina ny teninao ary Ianao efa nampanantena izany fahatsarana izany tamin' ny mpanomponao.
29. Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.
29. Veuille donc bénir la maison de ton serviteur, afin qu`elle subsiste à toujours devant toi! Car c`est toi, Seigneur Éternel, qui a parlé, et par ta bénédiction la maison de ton serviteur sera bénie éternellement.
29. "Dia aoka ho sitrakao ny hitahy ny taranaky ny mpanomponao haharitra mandrakizay eo anatrehanao; fa Ianao Jehovah Andriamanitra ô, efa niteny izany; ary ny fitahianao no aoka hitahianao ny taranaky ny mpanomponao mandrakizay."
